It's not just Alabama doing this. Other teams are doing the same thing.

It's smart to wait until fifteen seconds so they can't steal info. As long the ball is snapped, I don't care.

I do not care what other teams are doing.... It appears to me that it is an advantage to the defense as they can bait the play call into changing and change and by then the offense does not have time to change it. Do not recall this being an issue last year but I am forgetful these days... I certainly do not recall it being an issue under the previous staff.

Running the play clock down to 1 does shorten the game. Helps in the time of possession stats, also. Maybe it’s by design. We sure have burned a number of TOs early in the first and third quarters this season.

Since it happens play after play it is absolutely by design...

The objective is to use the clock so your opponent doesn’t have time to use. You’ll typically see this earlier in the game or when you want to hang on to a lead. Yes, sometimes Simpson uses too much time calling audibles or he’s waiting for the line to call theirs. It’s all part of the game.

I think it's causing happy feet and missed assignments. You pointing out the logic of it all is what everyone already knows, BUT, if you don't capitalize you're shooting yourself in the foot due to lesser margin for error. Changing the call what seems like every play isn't healthy. What's it say about our initial play calling ability?

I do care.

There is an advantage to that for any defense out there, but for them to do that, they need experienced front that knows what theyre doing. In the game against Sooner, offense had Sooners confused at time, in 3rd quarter.


Everyone is doing this, Old Miss, LSU, auburn, FSU, and others. Shoot, Sooners was doing same thing Friday night.

I get pretty frustrated at how close we get to a delay of game almost every play, but I like that we control the pace of most games.


I guess it doesn’t matter as long as we are scoring points and winning ball games…..right?

One thing that frustrated me vs OU was that of all the times the play clock nearly got to zero, the one time we need to bleed the clock, the punting unit snapped it with 17 seconds left.
