🏈 PJ's Picks- Week 5

Week 4 had a couple of surprises. South Carolina handled Missouri much easier than I expected, and Auburn gave LSU all that they wanted before succumbing.

This week there are fewer games to pick, as four teams have the week off, and two have oot of conference foes.

Arkansas at Texas A&M:

The Razorbacks are reeling after dropping three games in a row. Their NC aspirations are in tatters, and many are calling for John L Smith to be fired immediately. Meanwhile, the Aggies are looking for their first SEC win as well, having lost a tough one to Florida in their SEC opener.

With Tyler Wilson back, the Hogs are a good offensive team, but Tyler doesn't play defense, and the Porkers have been awful on that side of the ball. I look for the Aggies to be celebrating their first SEC win.

PJ's Pick: aTM 37 Arkansas 27

South Carolina at Kentucky:

Dreadful is the watchword for Kentucky. The cats can't move the ball, and they can't play defense. This is likely Spurrier's best team yet at Columbia. The Gamecocks will use this one as a warmup for next week's showdown with Georgia.

PJ's Pick: South Carolina 35 Kentucky 7

Tennessee at Georgia:

The Dawgs have really rolled so far this season. Last weekend they put the Smackdown on Vanderbilt, winning more easily than many expected. Meanwhile, the Vols struggled for most of the night before finally beating the Tator Tot led Akron Zips. I still feel like the Vols are better than they were a year ago, but they aren't quite ready for prime time.

PJ's Pick: Gerogia 41 Tennessee 20

Missouri at UCF:

An SEC school playing a directional school? Cupcake, you say? In the words of Lee Corso: "Not so fast my friend." Let's generalize and say that Florida directional schools are tougher than say Michigan directional schools. UCF has been playing the big boys tough for several years, including one in which they gave eventual NC Yexas all they wanted before losing late. This is not the first time that Mizzou and UCF have played, and they have been competitive games. Surprisingly,to some, UCF is favored. Mizzou had better find some toughness (as opposed to early game chippiness) if they want to win this one. The Tigers are still trying to find their way. I like the home team in this one.

PJ's Pick: UCF 27 Missouri 24

Towson State at LSU:

Its back to cupcake land for LSU, before the schedule turns more serious. The Tigers will be looking to work out some offensive kinks that were exposed in their game with Auburn. For that reason, the Tigers will churn up more offense than usual.

PJ's Pick: LSU 48 Towson 7

Michigan State at Ohio State:

Yet another dreadful season is in the offing for the B1g. The one team they thought they had that was really good had to struggle to beat UAB of CUSA in a game that was closer throughout than the 14 point final margin. Sparty hasn't found offensive punch subsequent to the departure of Kirk Cousins and a bevy of good receivers. Perhaps the Buckeyes were looking ahead a weak ago. I like OSU to win this one, but it will be close.

PJ's Pick: Ohio State 24 Michigan State 20

Texas at Oklahoma State:

If you like offense, keep an eye on this one. The Longhorns think they are back on track. The Cowboys lost one they had not expected to lose. Texas thinks their defense is back, but they did give up 31 to Ole Miss in a game where they scored 66. OSU is tough at home, and I think that at the end they will have lassoed the Longhorns.

PJ's Pick: Oklahoma State 45 Texas 42

Ole Miss at Alabama:

Hugh Freese stepped into what is in my mind one of the toughest coaching situations in the country. Their fan base expects them to win like they did in their glory days under Johnny Vaught, but they haven't kept up with the better teams in teh SEC in terms of facilities. Freese has done well so far, going 3-1 in his non conference slate snd thus eclipsing the OM win total from last year. This Saturdaay, though, they step into SEC play for the first time. I can't name any team on their remaining schedule who would be an underdog to them if the played today. they have used a fast paced, no huddle offense to light up the scoreboard at 37 points per game so far, but "big boy" play begins this weekend. Their speedy, but undersized defense is vulnerable to power running offense. Our Tide will exploit this. CNS will once again expect our guys to play to his standard rather than the level of the opposition.

I've seen at least one prediction of Bama vs Texas in the MNC game (http://cfn.scout.com/2/557866.html).

Oklahoma State - just not sure they can stop Texas...and not sure they can outscore them, not that I have any confidence in the other team that's loaded with 4-5* talent and continue to under perform.

Now the flip side, Okie State will be unveiling butt ugly uniforms for this game.

Great picks... completely agree with the Oklahoma State vs Texas score too, Texas has nowhere near the defense pre-season analyst hyped them up too be...Oklahoma State..well, if you saw them against Arizona, that defense couldn't stop Kiehl Frazier
