🧑‍🤝‍🧑 / 🏡 Pictures of the day -- From the wild to the crazy to the beautiful.

Dang.. I have not seen either in years.. Always loved Pizza inn and Godfathers, in Florence, but that was 20 years ago since I've been...
Franchise only, I'm sure.

I got curious because I see Pizza Inn stuff occasionally. There are two states that don't have locations in the south east; Alabama and Florida.

I LOVED Dugo's Pizza! I wish it was still around. The only one I ever knew about was out near Centerpoint. Their pizzas were massively thick and 1 slice was all most people could eat. I remember as a kid, I ate 2 slices by myself.

The best thing about the buffet, to me, was the pastas. Well, mainly just the Cavatini. If I worked the closing shift, I always made myself one. Plus I could put in whatever meats and veggies I wanted
If I've said it once, I've said it more than 100 time here. I can't tell you the number of "chain restaurants" I have visited FOR the pasta and salad bars. The Hut was one along with Ruby Tuesday's, TGI Friday's, and the like.

Sadly, there are few "name brand chain restaurants" of yesteryear that are around—and the majority of those are locally owned franchises. IE: An Applebees that's a few miles from me...neighborhood place, truly.

Seen a lot of things in my life but never lips in that square suck...
Sunday, your local independent Baptist ... nah, shouldn't go here.

I bought a small bottle of some hot sauce down at a booth in "The Slave Market" several years ago. It was based with Carolina Reaper, Chocolate Habanero, and one other pepper (I can't remember which...UP there on the Scoville scale: Ghost, maybe, but I'm thinking it was from one of the islands...Trinidad or Tobago.)

I remember having a "goulash" type of dish with seafood, steak, and rice. A plateful, mind you, with two or three drops. The whole damn plate was HOT!!

(The hint of chocolate in the habanero is a good flavor if you've never tried the sauce.)

I like spice and flavor. I've never really liked to make something where it sets your mouth on fire and you can't taste anything just feel the heat. Peppers like the Carolina reaper I just don't see the purpose for. Maybe you could get flavor from adding a drop or 2 to a pot of something but I've never wanted to gamble with a whole pot just to try it.

Haven't tried chocolate with habanero. Habanero sauces I've tried had a chemical taste i didn't care for but I use fresh habanero in jerk chicken and i like that flavor.

Maybe I need to try more of the hotter sauces but I normally season with fresh peppers, black pepper, cayenne, louisiana style hot sauce, Sriracha, or gochujang.

It was bought on a whim. Think about it for a second. What are the chances you'll find me walking around The Market?!?! Much less, buying something!!

You are right: it's for a pot of gumbo or the like. It's certainly not like adding a little hot sauce to a Pimento Cheese sandwich (got some fresh ones so they are on my mind this morning. A little ironic considering the other thread: it's a red pepper.)

Had you pegged as someone who goes to the market every Saturday morning to shop. Actually figured you only went there to people watch if you ever went.

Do you put jalapeno or Serrano in your pimento cheese? I like either in mine and made at home is so much better than any store bought I've tried.

Scroll up: "The Slave Market." You know, downtown in the tourist district. (I think it's now called the Charleston City Market, or something like that. No slaves were actually sold there though that wasn't too far away. The underground jail is at the end of the street if that tells you something. It was where the slaves sold their goods.)

Market, as in a farmer's market? I'm literally leaving here in a few minutes to hit the Summerville market. I want a jar of organic blueberry jam, to start...gotta see what's there today. A great atmosphere! Hell, they have a live band for several hours on Saturday's.

I've been to the slave market, the baskets the ladies were making were nice but just a tourist trap. Farmers markets are on our list everywhere we travel.
