Did anyone notice on that play, Coop slowed up just as the ball was being released? I couldn't figure out if he thought the play was over and kicked it into high when he saw the ball in the air, or if he did that intentionally because the ball was released a little late. If he did it intentionally so he could catch the ball in full stride.....damn.

He is playing crazy good for a kid that wasnt a starter at the beginning of the year. That catch last night that he made over Rambo was crazy.

Played Rec. before.....my opinion on it from what I saw was that he slowed down to give AJ room to keep the pass in play. Had he kept his speed he would have run out of room, and most likely either waiting on the ball or having to break to the post. So him slowing down actually helped AJ make a better throw. HE HAS SPEED....completely toasted the DB.

He wasn't AJ's first read...had he been there wouldn't have been a need to slow down.

That's what I'm thinking as well. Waiting on the ball makes it a jump ball. Hard to believe a true freshman has that type of mentality. Easy to run the route as fast as possible and wait on the ball. He set that play up, then ran under the ball.

Hard to tell if that was intentional or not. A play that I'd like to see someone put on youtube is that quick screen to him in the first half where he about broke that CB's ankles. He's a true freshman, and I don't think there's a CB in the SEC (and maybe the nation) that can cover him one-on-one.

Dude's a special talent, and seems like he's pretty humble as well...for a WR that is. :bluebiggrin:

That was one of my favorite plays......him a Eddie showed up to play. Not saying that everyone else didn't. But Amari was #2 on that MVP list

The touchdown catch was a thing of beauty as McCarron found him behind Damian Swann for the winning score.
"I knew we were going to take some shots down the field in this game," said Cooper, who will play in the championship game in his hometown of Miami. "As receivers, we want to take those shots and that's what we did."
Cooper said the winning pass came on a post route in which he had the option to release inside or outside.
"I released inside and I saw him bite hard and I went straight," Cooper said. "I didn't see AJ, so I kind of stopped. I saw the ball in the air and said, ‘Oh, shoot, I got to go get it.' That's how it went."
Cooper said he thought the pass was thrown too far.
"I caught up to it and caught it and scored," he said.
Cooper's seven catches were more than half of McCarron's 13 completions, and it's his final catch that will the one talked about the most for at least the next month and beyond.

Ha, I wondered about this because the video almost seemed kinda "off the record" or as if he wasn't necessarily aware he was giving an interview, no mic etc.. not sure though. Maybe there is an exception for the SECCG like you mentioned.
