🏈 Phillip Sims enrolled early because 'I want to know everything. I'm that kind of guy'

Well, it definitely helps Sims to already be in Tuscaloosa. There is no way McCarron or Sims jump McElroy. The big question will come after GMac leaves. Who will emerge as #1? And how do we keep both of them here and happy? With the kind of talent they both possess how does the "runner-up" stay in the game?

ESPNU had one of his HS games last fall, and as I watched i was awed by his arm strength. He'd stand in the pocket and with just a flick of the wrist the ball was gone, and it was a rocket. I haven't seen that combination of arm strength and quick release since I was just a pup and Joe Namath was at the Capstone.

I'm excited to know that we have 2 top notch QBs waiting in the wings ready to replace McElroy. This was before my time, but I imagine it is alot like the days of Namath and Stabler there on the Capstone.

That was quite a time. Namath was backed up by Steve Sloan for two year. Freshman weren't eligible then so Namath and Stabler were never actually teammates. Stabler came on the scene Sloan's senior year. Scott Hunter succeeded Stabler, giving us a run of four straight NFL caliber quarterbacks.

I wasn't sure if they were actually teammates or just came in back to back. You throw those names in with the man that led us to Coach Bryant's first NC ( Trammell) and that indeed was a great run. I've heard that Trammell wasn't the greatest but he was a leader and a winner.

School isn't out until June at his high school, so he can be home to graduate with his classmates, but he will miss his senior prom.

"Prom is nothing but a big party," he said. "Trust me. When you're in college, there's a whole lot of parties."

Uh oh. :no-no:

I've heard it said that Trammell was the toughest guy on that 1961 NC team, that he could whip any of his teammates, even 24o lb Billy Neighbors. Not NFL skills, but very intelligent. He became a doctor after football.

I knew that he went to med school after football and that he was Coach Bryant's all-time favorite player. I think he once said that Trammell reminded Bryant of himself ( wasn't that great of an athlete, just a hard worker).
