🏈 Phil Steele: A method to his madness, or just plain madness?

On his website, he's been following his annual tradition of counting down his top 25 teams of 2012.

I was a little shocked when I saw he had WVU coming in at #25. They do have to face all three of the "big guns" in the Big 12 in OU, Okie State, and Texas. But, when I look at that even if they came out with three losses at the end of the season that still makes them a top 15 team.

I began to think. "Does he know something we don't?"

That thought quickly left when I saw his selection for the 23 position: South Carolina. I don't think I've seen anyone have them out of their top 10. At that point I began to suspect he might have a screw loose.

Suspect turned close to convinced when I saw #21: Notre Dame. In the eyes of those in Vegas, the O/U on ND is at 8.5 and there heavy juice on the under right now. ND, who still doesn't have a clue who their QB is, will struggle to make it to 8 wins in 2012. Most pundits are thinking a game over .500.

Last night has me dumbfounded, stupefied: heck, give me some more adjectives here.

Guess who he has as his #1 team for 2012?!?!

That's true. Therein lies the question: madness or a method.

One thing can't be ignored about FSU this season. Their schedule is easier than UGA's trip to ATL.

BUT, it's when (if) they get to that championship game...that's when I see it as a bad choice. It's a blessing and a curse for both teams; easy route, but no clue what they'll find when they get there if they run into a team like LSU, or Bama, etc.
