🏈 Part 2 Gator Insider Coaching Search

DEVELOP is the operative word. Mett was/is a "bona-fide" NFL QB, and should end up with material NFL stats.

Mett developed due to his position coach, Cam Cameron. He also excels as an OC, but he cut his teeth as a QB coach. Some play callers just can't coach up the position they are responsible for. Some very knowledgeable guys just can't get it across to a kid so he can excel. I once worked with a guy that was smart as a whip but couldn't coach his position guys to get out of a wet paper sack with a tear already started for them. His kids couldn't excel. All he did was scream and yell at them when they screwed up. He would then send them back in after a few plays. When they screwed up again, they got the same ass chewing but no coaching.

On the LSU QB situation: Here's a link you might find interesting.

@uagrad93 hits the nail on the head, IMO. The issue isn't completely on development at the collegiate level; it's the type of offenses and coaching found at the high school level.

The author left out Andrew Hatch (the Harvard transfer) LOL. That's a very good account of the QB situation at LSU the last 10 years. Its my opinion that if they'd had that position in check, they'd have an extra crystal ball or two.

"For all Miles’ strengths, quarterback development remains an obvious and detrimental weakness that has cost the program dearly. Give the 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014 defenses a capable quarterback at the helm, and Miles might have more rings on his fingers."

Someone sees it the same way you do, Matt.

WORSHAM: LSU QB woes aren't the quarterback's fault

I'm still left in the corner it's not entirely on Miles. However, it has to be noted he's signing athletes to play QB in a pro-style offense. That's a crap shoot, defined.

Stoops, like Urban, has too big of an ego. He doesn't have the balls to risk losing consistently against Saban in the SEC. So, he'll stay put. Gundy on the other hand.....he's a MAN who may be up to the challenge. LOL. McElwain would be an interesting choice, but I suspect they may be looking for a little more HC experience....

Miles recruited Ryan Perilloux... :hyper:
I had to look him up I forgot about him going to JSU. Look where he play with now.
Ryan Anthony Perrilloux is an American football quarterback for the New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League. He was signed by the Hartford Colonials as a street free agent in 2010. He played college football at LSU and Jacksonville State.
One more thing what is the heck is a street free agent?
