🏈 Outside Shooters

Why is it that Alabama has so much of a problem having anyone hat can hit long 2 pointers and 3 point shots on any kind of consistent basis? That seems to me to have been the problem with the offense the past few years.

I know this is Grant's first season, and he's working hard to correct this problem, but it still befuddles me that it has been so long since anyone on this team has been able to really shoot.

Personally I think that the issue is with the CMG regime. They recruited "athletes" rather than "basketball players". Not to knock a player, but Senario Hillman is the classic example. He would be marvelous in a track meet with his running and jumping skills, and his quickness and agility makes him a good defender. He has worked hard on improving his perimeter shot, but a shooter he is not. If I were an opposing coach I'd ignore all our guys except Brock and Davis on the perimeter. I expect more of the same Saturday.

It's really painful to watch teams go zone and just collapse in the paint. It makes it too difficult for Green to operate. Even our "shooters" (you know who the 2 guys are) aren't even that good at shooting. Neither guy can hit it or even shoot it with a hand in his face.

I've been a Hillman hater forever. He might be a smart guy in the classroom or everyday life, but he's a flat out dumb basketball player.

All in all, Tenn is just a better team than us.

What they said. It's rampant in the SEC right at this moment though. There are two teams that are decent, well UK is better than decent, but there are just a ton of athletes all over and no basketball players.

Kids don't work at being shooters at the younger levels. All they are interested in are being a human highlight film that can run and dunk. I coached basketball from the junior high to the B-team level and it never failed. Give the players a water break and they come back and try to dunk or make a shot from 1/2 court or further before we started the next set of drills. We would always struggle from the free throw line even though we drilled constantly.
