With you 100% here. Although I never met him, Dabo and I went to UA together or were there at the same time. A walk-on who became a success like Rashad Johnson did. One thing he has failed to do is carry his success with dignity, to carry himself the way his coach did. Coach Stallings and Swinney's best contemporary, Coach Saban, never have made the success at UA about themselves. They didn't/don't run out on the field by themselves. They let their teams take care of that on the field.

My wife was recently the principal at Pelham High School. Dabo is still royalty in that town. Like the good folks in Pelham (and others in Shelby County), there is a lot of hope that one day he'll succeed Coach Saban. Count me out of that group. Not until Dabo grows the hell up.

No joking at all. Dabo used to say that his staffs consistency is what made Clemson so good. And I think he had a point, much like 'Bama's defensive consistency under Kirby. Dabo's OC & DC have been getting good HC offers for years. That's nothing new. Anytime the OC's are offered they are pretty much gone. Now, BOTH the OC & DC is gone. It will be a different team.

Especially with Venables being gone. Clemson will lose more games because of that. I don't have to wait & see to know there will be a drop off.

Now I am not sure what you mean by the fact that "Nick hasn't done it"... He's certainly replaced coordinators with successful coordinators who go on to other HC jobs. So I am really lost at what you are saying.

As I've said before, I like the story of his time as a walk-on and his progressions as a player at Bama. As soon as he started crossing the line (NCAA) under DuBose, those feelings changed. It's not a lot different than DuBose: appreciate his time as a player and don't as the guy in charge of the program.

Your love for Dabo is as misplaced as your love for Shula: neither were good for the program.

The point is ..... Saban has a tougher time saying its ALL about him....because of so much success by others...another for sure...BEAR ....but dang man...he knows this 20-25 run IS about him...assistants have come n gone...recruiting and image are/and WOW....
Clemson-itesknow their current unique success is about DABO ( when fans bitch about 10-3 season...and as a bad season...things are good)



But DABO does talk about the 2 coordinators that left...will see how he credits the success of new ones...but we shouldnā€™t always compare any other to Saban....
The man is the highest quality...person...family...football...rep for football ...etc
A lot on here compare who they envy/dont like/ have beat Bama to Saban...nobody compares

Crossing line...so no admiration for Stallings ( probation..but I agree i believe really wasnt him..but still)...Saban ( forfeited games for violations...but crap stuff I know)...

DABOand Shula....lol... I actually dont love them...wrong word...as HCs and players...and men i have met and interacted with...i really LOVE what they did for programs......going back a little...HC Danny Ford and my sister went to HS together and were friends...and knew him from being around some)

Both Shula and Dabo took over an under-achieving program...One made great choices and had great success ( DABO) the other...not so much...( SHULA) but Mike Shula Settled down things at Bama...from previous HCs....and recuited lot of that 2008/2009 teams ....

Ok....beat this to death...

Yeah....i am lost what i wrote abou "nick hasnt done it" nobody has done it more and with more success......itā€™s uncanny how he has been able to adjust to everything CF ....as it has changed and he has changed.... the man is unbelievable....as a HC....

I agree ....he did give credit to his retaining coordinators .... a lot...
And that was my point with @TerryP
And they were really good co-ordinators...especially Venerables

Might be a drop off...losing coordinators but...with great recruiting....it can be minimized.... so ..might be..might not

Even still you're not telling the whole story here.

Yes, he lost both Venables and Elliot this past season. The digression on offense started when Jeff Scott left and the offensive reigns were turned over to Elliot. Scott heading to S. Florida coincided with Robbie Caldwell (former offensive line coach) leaving.

You're spot on with your continuity comments and it's supported by the choices made to replace these guys. I appreciate the intent/motive about hiring from within. But that's far outweighed when there are better coaches out there: see Brandon Streeter (where we've seen the digression (QB's) as well since Scott left. (Let's not forget, that didn't start with DJ. Sunshine digressed his last season there when Streeter took the QB gig.)

LSU vs A&M. I understand where you're coming from there.

I drew the line at folks looking at where they've been with their eyes on this fall. People have framed LSU under Kelly's tenure at ND and now he's unrestricted (no pun intended.) I see folks expecting that 3-5 conference record to approach doubling their W column. I look at Fisher and see continuation: a three or four loss SEC season.

I suspect we'll see those bumps in the road here (and by the time they get to LSU that locker room is worse than it is today)

Look at 2022 schedule:
Georgia Tech Struggled to beat them 14-8 last year
Furman- Win
Lousiana Tech-Win
WF- They hung around for a while before giving away late in game.
NC State- 2 OT with Clemson. Lost to them.
BC - Beat them 19-13
Florida State Beat them 30-20
Syracuse Beat 17-14
ND- Not a sure W
Louisville Beat 30-24
Miami not a sure win..
South Carolina. not a sure win

My point is that as long they have DJ behind as a QB, They're not going to score more than 30 points often. As Terry P noticed, he is still making same mistakes from last year. That is unacceptable for someone who's in program so long. Defense for Clemson is questionable too. I suspect Clemson will lose 4 or 5 games. Next year doesn't look promising as well. Only way for Clemson to get back to CFB is to address issues through transfer portal and he's not doing that any time soon.

Actually D front 7 is going to be strength of team...
A very good team. They may lose a game...but there isnt one on schedule...thats a "guarantee" loss.....or be favored on them ...maybe @ND...see ...they have holes too
DJ may not even be starter....the freshman QB....may take it away...have to see on that...but 30 points may win every game....dont see any one on schedule that will put 30 on that D

But...If you would have made point about losing coordinators...coulnnt argue that... is a blow...

Ostarine steriod use is exposed and they've been on a downhill slide since then. Clemson, where they used to be able to line up against your bigger lines, used to be able to hold their own. Now they're routinely beaten on both sides of the ball.

Only one of these statements are true and it lacks "former." He's about as bad as DuBose when it comes to race preferring to have his 'white guys' in visible positions except DuBose discriminated the other direction.

I don't hate Clemson like that. The difference between you and me is that I'm pretty neutral about teams in CFB. There is no team I hate with Passion. It's just a football.

DJ lost weight and He looks better, and has little spin on his throwing to receivers, but he's still making the same mistakes. Cade beating him out for the starting job? I don't think We've seen Dabo do that, benching a starting QB? He's not going to do that. He'll give DJ every chance... summer and fall to keep his job.

There are question marks at QB, WRs, OL. Shoot, the OL got owned by Defense at Spring game. I mean 1st and 2nd team got owned by defense. Offense is very conservative and they will play to not to lose. This is old Bama offense of 2011 minus the elite players.

now, Defense... They're solid. Good. Can compete and should be in top 15 in some stats...
Name I've heard : KJ Henry and Xavier Thomas. Both are DE. That's pretty much it. DL, LB and Secondary... they're solid, but Not good enough to where they are going to shut down the run/pass plays.

This season I will go out on limb and say that This is the team that will try and win with Defense. Offense can't just muster up 30-40 points on consistent basis each week. It's not going to be that with DJ and I don't see Cade doing that.

CLemson is a 2-4 losses team. Only way they get in playoff if they win all of the game or has 1 loss. anything over that, it's a wrap.
