🏈 Our run defense

Was it just me, or did our run defense seem to break down a a little today?

As I talked with TerryP before the game, we agreed that Charles Scott would have been our consensus "best back in the SEC" going into the 2009 season. He is a physical runner who gave us problems last season.

That said...

We held LSU under 100 yards rushing.

KY with 133 yards (48 after we had a huge lead) is the only team to break 100 on us this season.

The option gave us trouble at times, but it wasn't LSU's bread and butter, and we probably were not totally prepared for it.

Our run defense is the least of my concerns. We have to be more consistent in the secondary. LSU dropped a ball or two that would have gone for big gains. That has happened several times to other teams as well. We got burned early in the season on long passes. If we don't get more consistent in what we do, we will get burned again.

Too aggressive. Over-ran plays = arm tackles = broken tackles.

Seriously over-ran an option play that gained 10 yards and set up an easy 3rd and 2, when it should have been stopped for a loss, thus making it 3rd and very long. That was a touchdown drive.

Rob, I noticed that Reamer had several chances at Scott and didn't seem to want any part of it on a couple of occasions. Well, maybe that's not fair, but Reamer really whiffed on a couple. It had me wondering what the ham samwich was going on there.

In other instances I thought LSU just got into a play to attack the alignment, so I gotta give them props for that.

Overall, we need to play much better, especially on offense if we want any part of playing Florida. That's just MHO.

20 out of the last 23 games we have held the opponent to under 100 yds. We are back on top when people are grumbling about the D giving up 95 yds on the ground.

Most teams would cut off their 'nads for stats like that.
