šŸˆ OTD in 2012, Texas A & M and Missouri officially join the SEC. Regular season conference football records since last SEC expansion ...

Seven losses which you've pointed out and all of them are not the result of the kicking game, or special teams.

Fluke? Or unfortunate break in the game? Yeah, that's more like it along with some officials who weren't calling the games correctly. LSU this past season. Or, OLmen 10 yards down field against Auburn. Or, Malzahn playing with substitution rules. The Ole MIss loss with freak plays like the ball coming off of...was it Kenyan's foot?

I do feel the Kick 6 game the kicking game failed us. How many field goals were missed, three (44, 33, and 44). Not even counting the last one because it was so long. I personally feel 45 yards and less should be an 80% make for a D1 scholarship athlete. 46 and higher I would drop to probably 50% ( a low percentage just to help them out a tad). We recruit the best everywhere, so we should have a kicker held to the same expectation as we do a quarterback, running back, linebacker, or defensive lineman. Make one of those field goals and we win. The last two misses ended with two Auburn touchdowns. We could pinpoint a Yeldon fumble or a defensive breakdown, but Yeldon still had ~140 yards and a touchdown, and the defense played decent from my memory, but our kickers did nothing with a few opportunities.

That's how I feel about that one game atleast. I may not be right, but that's just how I see it.

Thats what a fluke is. Unfortunate and weird break....
No wasn't all STs. But of 7. Couple were
Missed penalties. Unfortunate penalties. Happens. Sounds like LSU fans complaining
And malzahn just outsmarted our coaching staff. Brilliant move my way of looking at it
Unfortunately

He broke the rules. If a logical way of thinking is also a brilliant way of thinking, I'll stand accused.

If you will take the time and find a LSU who thinks logically ... I'll be glad to wait.

Never ever meet such lsu fan. Never ever!

How did he break the rules. If ur speaking of malzahn. Brought punter in and put him at wide receiver. Hows that illegal? Was brilliant. Made our ST coach.. who was unprepared....panic and tried to run regular D out!!!!

It's specifically written in the rule book. I

Did not mean to sidetrack this thread but with that said, @TerryP your comments make me think about a comment I think Bear made after I think it was Namath who was stopped (at least that is how the referee saw it) at the goal line and did not score maybe against Texas(?). I think Bear said something to the effect of getting all the way into the end zone and leave no doubt. I am sure I butchered the statement but to me none of these FG misses, fluke plays matter if you dominate them and leave not doubt. That is my expectation (I am sure that is unrealistic). You know like 36-0. No missed FG or fluke play is going to change the outcome of that type of dominance.

Many times in the past we have been ahead by 20 points or more at the end and a field goal or two has helped us get to that point. I believe it should be a priority to have a good kicking game.

The average per game is from 3.5 to 13 points. looking at statistics we are not the best but not the worst.

Should be the best. No reason not to

But. I remember bobby bowden had same problem. Wide right. Wide left. Lol

Just like I said after the game, if you'd only read the rule book. You're comparing apples to oranges.

Cant wait to read the rule that a player inserted into a game must line up in his proper place according to ??? ie punter.... and who says he is only a punter... could play more than one position!

And have seen teams line up in punt formation and shift out of it....trying to catch D out of sorts

Just call it what it was.... hate it....alot.... but bambozzled the coaching staff...

Have at it. I'm well known for talking out of my ass, right?

I suppose you're also going to assert that having the whole offensive line 10 yards downfield is also the coaching staff being bamboozled. šŸ™ƒ

Saban said it was an unfair play. It's documented. All of it is.

Lol. It ok Terry.
No. If officials missed Oline down field. Its a missed call. Those do happen i
If u get bambozzled. You are bambozzled
Both are ok.
It was a trick play. Period
It worked for them.
And no. I didnt read all 224 pages of rule book you forwarded
And if nick said it was " unfair play" Never heard him refence why. What was unfair? @SoCalPatrick

Okay, then why did Saban say it was an unfair play (as cited earlier in this thread.)

When I heard his statement I went to a college football head coach and asked him to explain what Saban meant. I told you that when we had the first discussion.

So, I'm supposed to take the word from whom here? The HC who showed me the rule? The HC who said it was an unfair play?

It's covered in the rule books. I cited, and linked, the rule for you last fall.

It dont matter ....anyway....over n done with....moving on...
