Crabtree has decided that he shouldn’t have to be paid less because – based on all the made-up, predicted drafts – Al Davis made a mistake (In selecting Heyward-Bey ahead of Crabtree). He wants to be paid more than Heyward-Bey, demanding his contract reflect that it was actually he who was the higher selected receiver.
Two words. Maurice Clarett. Now Maurice didn't sit out a season, but he turned down GUARANTEED money and opted for a heavy performance based contract. That went well.

Does he really think he'll be drafter higher than 10th next year, considering there are kids who will get major press all year from playing college ball or is he banking on the 49ers not wanting to loose their 1st round draft pick?:headscratch:

so first off... this is Crabtree's cousin saying this, not Crabtree. at this point, i'm not sure if that matters, but it could.

yes, agree...he has to be drafted way higher if you think about it. as he will be losing $2-4m this year alone if he sits out, so he needs to also make that ground up as well next year. with 3 really good QB's coming out next year, some RB's, etc...I think he is stupid - as 10 teams already passed on him.

huge roll of the dice. his agent is saying they know nothing of this btw.

Crabtree's injury wasn't the only reason 10 teams passed on him in the draft. There were well known instances of him being a spoiled brat while at TT. He would often scoff at the pre-game team meal and demand someone go to the hotel restaurant and get him exactly what he wanted to eat. Also, although Crabtree was spectacular in college, he would regularly drop easy balls. Mike Leach noted when asked about this, "Yeah, it's nothing new. He's always dropped a few easy balls." If his cousin is speaking out of turn then he'd better shut him up. If he held out playing this entire year he would go the way of the last guy who did this, Mike Williams (All everything WR from USC who refused to play for $ reasons and has since passed into FB irrelevence.)
