I saw the interview live and listened to the podcast before linking it here yesterday. So, based on that...

I'll give DP a pass on the last statement "good luck against Alabama" because he caught it and changed to Michigan. A simple slip-up, it happens.

Weirdest? I didn't get that feeling at all.

Just as an analogy of sorts, Crimson Crazy and I were discussing a few things yesterday and the subject of previews of the Michigan game came up. My thought was "what more can be said about the game that hasn't been pointed out and discussed—more than once—since January?

In light of that, what more could be asked in an interview with Saban at this point? Sure, he could have delved into questions about different personnel issues with Alabama but we also have to take into account how many people in a nationwide audience would know the difference between Amari Cooper and Harrison Jones?

Songs on his iPod? We heard all of that with Tom Renaldi last January. Spurrier's comments? We heard that for two weeks after the SEC media days. Mathieu? Been there, done that.

All were very basic questions and ones we've heard before. But, I didn't find any of them weird.

What did you find weird about the interview?

Patrick can be wide ranging and offbeat in his interviews, but he does a pretty good job in obtaining a bit more insight or a different viewpoint on his subject. Sometimes he comes off a bit goofy, but I listened to it and enjoyed it.

Have you ever watched his show on Fox?

Hands down, the best studio I've ever seen.

Just watched it again, and perhaps I overstated my reaction a bit. While I understand Patrick is a funny kind of guy at times, this interview just seems so unplanned and unscripted. Here you have one of the biggest names in college football, and maybe in the coaching profession itself, and you spend so much time on such trivial and tangential topics as Patrick did. Indeed, Saban is one of the more exposed coaches out there which can make it harder on an interviewer to come of with novel discussions a week away from Week 1. So you make a good point here. But weirdest interview ever? I take that back. Maybe Patrick just appeared to me as unprepared.

I didn't catch any mention of the interview until the day of which makes me wonder if Todd Fritz sort of surprised Patrick with the schedule. I may have missed them announce it Monday considering I was in and out when Monday's show was being broadcast.

I've heard a better lineup of questions, no doubt.

I don't usually watch it, Terry.

One of the things that make a televised radio show (for lack of a better term), is the radio host is often looking at their notes or monitor and they don't have the same imperative for a "presence" as a TV personality.

Agreed. Mike and Mike, Scott Van Pelt, and Colin Cowherd don't make for a good televised radio program other than listening.

There are two that I do watch/listen to quite frequently. Patrick, as mentioned, and it's seldom I don't catch Imus when I'm "winding down" from work. I'm certainly not watching either as closely as I would a normal broadcast, but I definitely prefer the televised version. Just the ladies alone from the Fox Business Network are worth a prolonged glance at the television. Diane Macedo is a definite Y.
