šŸˆ Ole Miss WR predicting upset?

I can understand that, but also, what are the chances we run a 99 yard kick return back? We had one all year. When you look at the yardage both offenses put up they are pretty similar, especially considering one team won the National Championship and the other won seven games. It was a down game for our offense and the way we drilled other teams all year, this was a sub par game on our behalf. Was it Ole Miss or a game we played down to the competition? That's up to the individual's opinion.

Very good chance with Christion Jones back there.

My point is we probably shouldn't have won at Fayettnam; like 2013 ATM we put ourselves in a hole early. That game turned out to be a fortuitous piece of the total body of evidence for the 2010 season. As we would go on to lay an egg in Columbia, which was one of the top wins in that school's history much like a win for Ole Miss would be on Saturday. History does not exactly repeat itself, but I do not want to tempt fate by getting in a hole early, again.

Let's not get too close with the comparisons between Ole Miss and South Carolina. The only thing that would make is big for Ole Miss is that they beat us so rarely. In terms of history, the programs are worlds apart. South Carolina has accomplished next to nothing in the same 120 years as Bama football. If I'm not mistaken, they have one shared conference championship over the last 120 years, a 1969 ACC tie with an impressive 7-4 record. The Gamecocks' first 10 win season was in 1984 - Ole Miss reached this 30 years earlier or more. 18 bowl appearances vs. 34 for Ole Miss. Ole Miss was a national contender in the late 50's through mid 60's, and they have 6 SECC.

I don't mean to be argumentative on this topic, but it's difficult to overstate what a nonexistent mess that program has been, and what a maladjusted, overconfident bunch of fans they have. The Spurrier connection is perfect between FL and SC.

On the flip side:

What has Ole Miss done to garner this respect you speak of?

A win over a hapless Texas squad?

One top ten recruiting class?

If we look at who Ole Miss has beaten we see a 1-4 record against ranked teams with the lone win against a Mississippi State team (24/25) last season. Is it safe to say this respect spoken of hasn't been earned?

A win over Vandy who hasn't won a conference game this season? (Let's not forget that was a last minute win over the 'Dores.)

Seriously. What?

What???!!! The "sleeping giant" I was referring to was Bama. It's Ole Miss not showing respect, not the other way around. That's why I said "however."

As evidenced—at least that's my intent—by some of my comments in this thread I believe it's fairly clear in my eyes it wasn't Ole Miss.

One thing they did do which was of note in my mind was seeing the mis-match possibilities with going three and four wide and having a WR on our Star/Money position. That's the same thing LSU and A&M took advantage of...

NOW that makes more sense.

I'm not sure if it was shared or not...but it was their only "championship" of record in football. I had to laugh a bit when I saw the banner recognizing it in WBS back in 2005.

It's noteworthy this week with the passing of Dietzel.

I think they had a 18-34 record versus Duke. For the love of god, they have a losing record versus Duke.

Tim, nothing argumentative from you at all - I appreciate the conversation.

SC in 2010 was cocky/confident, but not worthy and yet they played perfect and won. OM in 2013 is cocky/confident, but not worthy and I believe this game will take total concerted effort to take the will out of OM. That is what it will take from us is a solid fast start to neuter OM's confidence.

I don't recall UofSC coming into that game with a lot of confidence: at least no more than normal. They did have two weeks to put the loss to Auburn behind them and even though they did win against UGA in week two it was a hapless UGA team that season. (Including the bowl game I seem to recall UGA being less than .500 that season.)

They did gain a lot of confidence as that game progressed. Hell, how could a team not gain confidence with the performance Garcia put on that day. Off the top of my head...what did he end up with that day? 17/20 with 3 TD's? If' that's not spot on it is damn close...

Right, just about 200 yards. McElroy had more than three hundred that day. Bama could not run the ball.

AJ should have ~300yds against Ole Miss.

How about a snippet of our receiving leaders - OJ is #3...Cooper is #5

I believe our receivers are going to have a good day...and I believe theirs will as well.

A big advantage lies in who we have calling our defensive sets; more precisely, how well those calls are disguised.

Talking and adrenaline last all for the first play til you get popped in the damn mouth! Then Ole Miss realizes they are Ole Miss and BAMA cruises to the win. This Ole Miss team reminds me of those Bulldogs from StarkVegas last year. They talk it but deep down inside, they have ALOT of doubts in their minds! I've read the comparisons everyone has tried to make between this year and 2010. That was like the 5th game in a row where someone had a bye week before us, we had several players out with injuries, and Garcia was sober and played off his ass!

I been wandering what the deal with Cooper is. He has not looked the same so far this year. Hasn't been able to get much separation from defenders, and when he does he's had some uncharacteristic drops.

Consensus around our television set was that Cooper had something physical ailing him, as early as the first week. From what I've heard and read, I have trouble reaching any other conclusion.

Didn't he have a minor injury during spring or maybe fall camp? I'm thinking he had a foot or toe injury but I could be mistaking him for someone else.

its no surprise to see D. White as the leading receiver. He was the go-to guy before he got injured. Only then is when Amari made a name for himself.
