Preface: I recall my second time in Williams Bryce Stadium. It was 2005, we were up BIG in the third quarter and I was trying to pass time just looking around their stadium.

At first I wondered how they got so many fans to dress in gray shirts in the south stands. That is, until I realize those were empty seats instead of shirts. OK, seriously.

Looking around WBS the one thing that stuck out to me was a banner in the West endzone celebrating a conference championship 25+ years ago. One, mind you.

Now, this one takes the cake. Seriously, Coach Spurrier, what the hell has happened to your sense of a success football team? Is 11 wins, no Championship game appearance even in conference, and a win over a mediocre Nebraska team worth this?

I guess definitions of accomplishments differ, eh?

OK, let's go this way. If you don't win your division, and don't play in your conference championship...

Champions 2012?!?!?

Of what?

One thing that makes me snicker a bit is the Gamecock fans claiming "this was a gift from the Cap One" because they won that game. Now, that fails to take into account the gifts for players from the Cap One were a gift card to Best Buy and a watch.

Never let facts get in the way of excuses?

If I were a player that was receiving on these I'd be embarrassed to wear this around. You'd get the ole' - "Ahhh, let me see that ring!...Oh wow! Did you win a National Championship?...No? Oh, so it's because you won a Conference Championship?...No?...Ohh...well...it sure is a pretty day outside isn't it"?

BTW Terry, I have some in-laws that live in the Columbia area, but rarely use their tickets. I've never been to WBS...what's the gameday experience like?

I've been three times for Bama games. I had a blast each time. Now, some of that has to do with friends, etc. In '93 I was with a lot of members of the REC and we had a nice tailgate just among the cars. In '01 I was with several in the Big Spur club. (Their REC, booster club) Hanging out around and in the Cockaboose cars is a game day experience! It's a lot like the Grove, except in old cabooses. In '05 I was with our Alumni group out of Charleston. We had a good 75-100 stop by that day.

Nice stadium. Getting in and out is pretty easy as well. But, you are on the state fair grounds so keep that in mind. You very likely will park in the same place a cow will be judged in the spring.

If you go, avoid the lower bowl, NE section of the stadium. The seating sucks, IE: view, and it's real close to their student section. Anything along the sidelines, 20 to 20, is a good seat.

And, just as my personal opinion, any fans who chant, "You can't beat our cocks" is a little...you insert the word.

I dont see how that could help them in recruiting. If i were a kid being recruited for my blistering 5.4 speed and 5'11" 195lb out of shape frame i would think it was cheesy. Especially knowing they havent won anything in years.

I still think the best "ring" story is one told by one of my closest friends father's. He was playing golf with same AU friends and alums shortly after the 2004 season ended. They were giving him hell about being undefeated and Bama being in the gutter. They said they were going to get rings just like the players got (remember, Tubby got them rings even though they didnt even play for the BCS title) and asked him if he wanted one. He said no thank, he doesnt wear aluminum hahahaha

Im glad our team gets real rings with real meaning.

Should we under perform next year and end up at the Capital One Bowl, I can't imagine them buying the Tide these rings.

For our Senior class, they would kick that game off already with 3x rings form 2009, and presumably 2x more for 2011.

They should just tell them "Look. You know these are not going to get worn. You know that I'm just going to give it my girl friend, so could you just make it a Capital One belly-button ring instead."
