Following last seasons Tua injury I listened to a bookmaker offer "Tua was worth four points per game." As it ends up, that was low; scoring offense dropped a touchdown per game.
I look at Florida and the points mentioned about Pittsānot a lot of disagreementāand I see his loss being worth a touchdown per game. It was versus LSU; only a field goal against A&M. (I believe we will all agree there were things affecting that game that were outside of the loss of Pitts; environment, UF coaching decisions and preparation for that game, etc.)
Let's put Pitts in context for a second. I say "worth a touchdown" and the numbers show his points per game sits at 9.0 for the season, 12 touchdowns on the season with four of those coming against Ole Miss to start the season. (Three against UK.)
Then we have Toney with 12 TD's on the season, Grimes with nine on the season, and split among another five or six of the two's we'll find another 12-15 touchdowns.
Enter Emory Jonesā2 TD's, 1 INT on the season, 1 rushing TDāand I can't find the same production.
It's nothing against Pitts and his impact is significant with Florida's offense. His loss and its impact? I see this similar to Bama's loss of Waddle.
I do think that had Trask not been on this team, Florida with Emory Jones wouldāve looked more like Miss State with Dak Prescott rather than the 4-5 wide sling it around the field.
I do as well. That's what I expect to see next season. It should run well in Gainesville next year resembling what we see with Fields and the Buckeyes this season.
