🏈 Offensive line talk -- Week 4

So we couldn't score from 1st and goal on the 1. That pissed me off. 1st down didn't, because QB sneak doesn't always work, but it wasn't a bad call. 2nd down pissed me off because a linebacker was untouched. 3rd down pissed me off, but not at the oline, it was a bad play call. Why are we pulling an interior lineman on a goal line play? No reason for it.

Other than that one instance, how much more can we complain when we are rushing for 200 a game? Do we blow them off the line from the first whistle to the last? No. But we do wear their ass down, like we did tonight. We can bicker all day and harp on the missed assignments, but Trent just had 126 yards on 17 carries and Lacy had 61 on 13.

I'm satisfied, and I now think we can beat anyone we play if we limit turnovers.

The OL played their best game of the season thus far. With that said, there's obviously some room for improvement. Basically the OL needs to continue the gel as there are no glaring deficiencies at any one particular spot. I believe they will continue improve day-by-day throughout the week during practice. Nor am I surprised that the OL is playing the way they have been. It's early in the season & they just have not gelled into the OL that they are going to be a month from now. LSU is going to be a true barometer of how far they've come. But at the end of the day...Roll Tide Roll!

Yeah, OP you're right to talk about that goal line stand against us, I hated that and I always hate not trying something more than just a 22 lead over and over but whatever because I was also very pleased by the O-Line play, whether it be peaking at the right time, finally gelling together, the other team respecting the passing game more or just TR hitting the holes a little harder I thought the O-Line did fabulously. RTR.

preach on brotha! im sure someone will find a way to cry about it tho...

i was more pissed that we just didnt hand it to Trent straight up the gut three times on the goal line, no reason to do anything else.

REALLY?! We ran it up the gut 3 times with Trent?! coulda swore we ran a QB sneak then a FB dive and THEN gave it to him. Musta been watchin a different game.

Hahahahah, okay okay, I'll admit it, I said that partially just to make you mad! It worked!! But in all seriousness, we did do it twice correct? And twice it was stuffed? Did you just say the whole "i was more pissed that we just didnt hand it to Trent straight up the gut three times..." just because I had said I hate running those 22 leads time and again to no avail??

It didnt make me mad, and we only gave it to Trent once... i trust Trent to slam it in the endzone more than I do Jalston. No I didnt just say that because of that, i said it because id rather see 3 straight runs up the gut on the goaline... grown man football... i dont mind play action at times tho...

I just utterly disagree on that subject, there is no reason in the world to think our 5 lineman, a tight end, plus a FB will be able to push the 9 men in the box for them to let our guy in... We have no Mount Cody lead blocking anymore, all 102,000 (including the teams etc) people in the stadium know it's coming up the gut, they just have to stop it, therefore why not try a toss or a stretch play and try and have TR beat 'em to the pylon rather than doing EXACTLY what they expect?? That is not "little boy football" it's just smart

I have no problem with it... chill. I, PERSONALLY, just like it slammed up the gut on the goaline and I do think our O-Line can do it especially with Trent bowling ppl over... we do have a big package tho this year with Brandon Lewis in the backfield. Dont know why we didnt see it there.

I really felt like on 1st down AJ was in. Remember, the ball just has to touch the white line (or in this situation, the plane of the white line), which I felt like it did, after seeing the replay. Also, on 2nd down I felt like Jalston would break that tackle 9 out of 10 times.

Much happier with the line play. They are improving each week. The backs did a heck of a job picking up the blitz, especially Trent. Have not seen a line, since Saban has been at Bama, that could pass block like this line can.
Team is getting better every week. I like seeing that. Roll on.:a:
