🏈 OFFENSE-What will it take/what can be done?

Firstly, I'm not RoeTided nor of any relation; BUT, we have serious issues on offense and as good as our defense is I'm afraid Hurts will be the reason Clemson gets their redemption.

IDC that he's the SEC offensive POY, All galaxy freshman, etc..Hurts was awful tonight and Kiffin shared in the blame. I realize the pressure/expectations on him is unprecedented for any freshman. BB8 was expected to be our guy but he choked on his silver spoon. The game still seems too fast for him especially when facing the better teams (defense). Kiffin / coaches must do much better and IMO Jalen won't get that much better in 8 days so only a great game plan can win.

The way I see it, I think we could win a championship with Ms. State's QB but not sure ours.

I've been saying this the entire year but because I'm blunt and dont mince words, I get blasted on a daily basis. Hurts has actually regressed as the season's gone on.

Even if we were to luck our way into beating Clemson again, I think Tua could really push Hurts for the starting job in the spring/fall if his arm is superior.

In the next eight days, the following will happen:
  1. The coaching staff will work on Hurts' shortcoming
  2. The players will review tape of this game to see where they could have done better
  3. The players will review tape of their opponent to identify how the game plan can be implemented
  4. The coaching staff will develop a game plan that will take advantage of Hurts' strong points and minimize his week points (including what progress is done on #1)
Hurts has had issues all year so this isn't new. No player plays lights out in every game but opponents are starting to take advantage of his weaknesses. The good thing is that Alabama doesn't have an offense that relies on only one player. Have faith that Saban et al will take care of things.

Hurts 7/14 for 57 yards.

WRs Ridley (1 catch. 6 yards), Dieter (1 catch, 10 yards), A. Stewart and everyone else (ZERO catches)

Huge night for TEs (Howard 4 catch, 44 yards).

Almost as alarming, Hurts had same number of carries as Bo Scar. (19). Granted, more than a couple were designed to be throws. Still Hurts ran for 50 yards with long of 33. So other than 1 nice run, Hurts 18 carries for 17 yards.

Then again, Jay Barker was 4/13, 18 yards and 2 interceptions and we beat the schitt out of highly favored Miami.

How was he awful? Washington's DBs flat out WHIPPED our receivers tonight. There was MULTIPLE times he scanned the entire field and there was nothing. Rather than forcing something he either tucked the ball and ran or threw it away. He did miss some throws but ge also had a cpl drops too.

So not the QB but lack of talent at receiver?????

The last 25 games or so we have won with defense. Coach Bryant said a few things about winning championships. Defense does it. Defense does it. Washington pushed us around a little bit but couldn't score. Our offense had a hard night but was able to score enough with our defense scores to squeak by with a 24-7 win. He also said 3 things can happen when you throw the ball and 2 of them are bad. I'm ok with winning this way. We aren't the most beautiful girl to take to the prom but we sure can dance. I am confident that CNS will keep us in the next game

say what you will, but Clemson will score on our D just like last year. 24-30 points. Jalen and this offense may not score 20. only hope is our running game to control the clock. But we still have Kiffen so who knows. If we get behind and we have to go to the passing game then its over for us period. If Clemson plays like they did tonight and we play like we did tonight I don't like our chances

The only thing I can hope, to equal things, is that Watson rolls his ankle REALLY bad and is gimpy for like 9 days. If that doesn't happen, I am not encouraged about our chances. Jalen has had a tough year, and despite the rest, he seems a bit slow. He read the option read wrong several times - and hey, that's gonna happen, but it was too many. A couple of floaters where there just happened to NOT be a Husky DB, or there's an INT. The game has NOT slowed down for him - throws are late.

He DID miss the help of OJ and someone else who dropped passes. Blocking wasn't great for pass protection. Whatever. After 4 weeks of practice I am VERY afraid this offense does not have what it takes to keep us even with Clemson. Clemson has great defense and coaching, and despite the talent of our RBs and WRs (who did NOT do a good job of getting open), I am afraid that the Clemson defense will dominate us like they are doing to OSU. Our O-line was very bad up the middle tonite, and Clemson's DL is MUCH better.

Blunt? You were/are a blabbering fool. You bash the entire team starting after the opening kickoff, so how have you built any credibility whatsoever? You can't even back up your own bullshit with facts.

It's not Hurts, it's Kiffin. He had our offense looking like dogshit tonight. Add in the line not blocking well and getting penalties and you have an awful performance. His suspect play calling all season has had most of us scratching our heads. Sure, a true freshman is going to take their lumps and mess up, bug I'll take Hurts over the likes of five star Jacob Eason who never fot better throughout the season and can't throw the ball even as a pocket passer. The offense sucked tonight, sure, but that doesn't mean they are bad players or that they will get clobbered by Clemson.

Just an opinion of another asshole here. I believe there have been too many called runs for Hurts all year. I think he should get no more than five or six called runs per game. His keepers should be more of a surprise to the defense, after having to stop our Great backs, rather than the defense looking for it several times in the same drive. He gets a few more from scrambling on passing plays. They, the coaches and Hurts, could spend more time on learning the passing game, ala Sims. Say what you want, but Sims turned into a pretty good passer and runner - sccrambler, after having played a few other positions before his senior season. Not to be too down on Hurts, but with a full season under his belt, he still makes too many bad reads in the passing game and option running plays, not ot mention poor ball security.
