🏈 Offense is clicking for the Tide- Record books being re-written.

For such a defensive minded coach, Nick Saban features a record-breaking offense.

And that's with new offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin and first-time staring quarterback Blake Sims.

The Alabama football team produced 1,705 yards of total offense through the first three games.

That's the most yardage through the first three games in any season for the Crimson Tide. The old record was 1,646 in 1973.

The 1,705 yards is also the second-most in a three-game stretch for the Crimson Tide behind 1,844 yards from Oct. 20-Nov. 3, 1973.

Alabama's offense ranks 12th in the nation with an average of 568.3 yards a game and is tied for 25th in scoring at 42 points a game.

The rushing offense ranks 17th at 270.3 yards a game and the passing offense ranks 33rd at 298.0 yards a game.

"I think that we're really trying to feature the players that we have," coach Nick Saban said. "So far, what we've tried to do has been effective and it's worked. It's the combination of the players that we have that can make explosive plays. I think the running backs, we've utilized all those guys. We just have people with capabilities and we want them to be involved, and I think we have ways that we can do that."

Sims has been an efficient passer, which is one of the main reasons he took control of the quarterback competition.

He has completed 75 percent of his passes for 646 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

His 177.29 passer rating ranks 12th in the nation and his completion percentage is third.

All that those numbers are impressive, but the Crimson Tide still doesn't think it has arrived. The interior rushing offense is not potent enough.

"We just need to be more consistent," offensive tackle Austin Shepherd said. "That's the key to everything. We need better technique and consistency."

I still say the stats don't tell a story about this team because they haven't been challenged. Nothing good comes out of playing cupcake teams. Even playing Florida will not tell us much. Wait until we play OLE Miss then aTm. That will tell us how we will finish the season and whether we have a great team.

I have been very impressed with Kiffin and the west coast offense. IMO, more good things are in store for us as we move on in the season. I have no problem with a QB throwing for 1,500 yards, a running back over 1,000 and another very close and a receiver with over 1,000 yards. Sounds pretty good to me.
