🏈 Nussmeier could be a candidate for the Washington Job

So question about Washington, Mora's name is being mentioned by some...which I have to think is more wishful thinking by the fans/boosters.

That being said, do you think UCLA is a better job than Washington?

The biggest knock on UCLA has been their unwillingness to pony up the funds to pay a coach...at least that's what I remember hearing most often.

I remember hearing Mora was paid 2.5 this season so I'm assuming he's going to be in in the 3-3.5 range with his new contract. I've not seen or heard any details other than through 2019.

Would Washington be willing to pay that much? As I recall they did remain in the black last year to the tune of around 3 mill...seems like around 2.5 mill was subsidies as well. Not exactly cash strapped, but those coffers aren't over-flowing either.

I would applaud this move for Nuss. I think it's a good fit for him and I think it puts us in a better position. There's been plenty of questionable play calls and series in the last two years that have left me scratching my head. I think he's aggressive when he shouldn't be and passive when he should push the envelope. His calls are overly predictable as well, which leaves us in bad 3rd down situations. I've not been vocal against him, because let's face it..we are still winning a ton of games. I just feel that he's not a great fit as our OC, and would like to see the man find a job elsewhere.

Interesting observation, I think he's a pretty good OC, our numbers have improved under him. What are you expecting from our OC? CNS wants coaches that will do things the Alabama way.

I'd hate to lose Coach Nussmeier. Don't know if it would have turned out different without him or not but with him we've got a bunch of QBs to choose from in T-Town to find a replacement for AJ.

Anyone hearing rumors of Doug Nussmeier leaving/

I just got a text from my sister-in-law, who is a sports radio junkie, that said Nusmeier is leaving for Washington. Anyone else hear that?

If Coach Nuss leaves for an HC position that will mean our last two OC's got HC jobs from their time under Saban. Translation, you pick from the best of the best for your next OC, which means we don't miss a beat. Why? Because anyone who comes to BAMA learns the BAMA offense, not the players learning their system. Any tweaks, even Spread concepts, are based off what we already do.

I really hope he doesnt get the job, I mean i will be happy for him if he does but I really think Nuss was a great hire. And I have no clue who we would get to replace him.

Let's be honest with ourselves here. Who had a clue we'd hire Nuss when Mac took the job at Colorado State? Who had a clue we'd hire Mac back in 2009?

I realize, based on what I've read, that a lot of people are crediting Nuss with how AJ has developed. Let's remember Nuss just came on board in Feb. of 2012.

(I may stand alone here. I'd be very hard to convince we wouldn't have seen the same success and development on our offense under Brent Pease if he'd gotten the job instead of Nuss.)

Replacements: Currently on the staff I'd look at Billy Napier to get a look. I'd be happy if we reached out to Mike Groh.

Being reported by ESPN that Peterson is expected to be named the new HC of Washington. I'd love to see Nuss stick around for another year or so, but personally but wouldn't blame the man for taking a HC job.
