🏈 Now there are two things

by doing that he will be the only coach to have won a national championship at 2 different FBS schools. and as a huge bama fan if i could have it my way it would be the first of many and the start of a legacy second to none

Kentucky claims a NC in 1950 when Coach Bryant was there. While UPI and the AP put OU at #1, UK beat OU in the bowl game and the Sagarin rankings put UK at #1...that's what their claim is based on.

I was not aware of that claim by UK. Thanks Terry.

It truly is amazing how Bryant could effect a program. Kentucky has had scant success since he left, really only now with Rich Brooks have they established a winning recipe in a tough conference. I don't see UK as cellar dwellers anymore.

All those things can be said for Nick Saban too. The change at Alabama has been immediate and extreme, to the good side! A winner and program builder at LSU, and now at the helm of one of the most successful sports teams of all time, in any sport. If Saban were to stay at Alabama for a total of 10 years or more, I expect the trophy case to be busting out!

A very, very thin claim that would be.

And it sounds like the reverse to the highly researched argument that make the internet forum rounds almost every year (I consistently see it about twice a year on a Florida forum) some Auburn guy makes that tries to discredit many of our titles. Changes the contemporaneous criteria. Not legitimate.

Back to winning two titles at two different schools. Outside Bryant at Kentucky and Alabama, and now Saban with us and LSU, has there even been a coach to win SEC titles at two different schools? I cannot think of any others since the 1960s. And really none before that time comes to mind either.

Nope, just Coach Bryant and Coach Saban. At least that's what the graphic on the SECCG showed.

here in ky, i live an hr south of lex, and the word around is that brooks may retire soon. i think that is just bad news for a program that seems so up and coming on the rise. i read an article on espn.com last week talking about the year in review and saying that coach of the year goes to saban, with uk's rich brooks as worth mentioning. and it listed uk as the biggest sec suprise how they suprised people with this year's turn out, winning over ga and the barn even

I'd hate to see Brooks go, because he coaches his teams very well. I don't think anyone will disagree with me though, when I say that I think Kentucky Football has hit the ceiling. 8-4, 7-5 is as good as that program can hope for. There simply isn't enough in-state talent to keep them supplied. Louisville is going to recruit harder for a couple years. Ohio State, Cincy, and Notre Dame also hit the states in that area very hard, as does Va Tech and Tennessee. Then, you have to compete on the field with the SEC. It's a lot to ask.

Same thing can be said for Kansas Football. New coach or not, 8-4, 7-5 is equivalent to a championship season.
