🏈 No Deep Ball....

According to cfbstats, Blake has 79 passes for 15+ yards and 28 passes for 25+ yards. First, I don't know how reliable cfbstats are but, assuming they are right, that's pretty good numbers. I like they way he throws the deep ball but mostly I like the way he represents the team. Not a smack talker just a performer.

Someone is going to have the go game by game and chart how far he throws the ball in the air for this debate to be settled. As example, those stats are quickly countered with "yards after the catch," which is countered with "what does it matter..." which in turn is countered...

Someone should take a minute and find his numbers after that third interception. I saw them yesterday and meant to note them here...amazing work.

I remember 3 throws "downfield" during the last 2 games. All 3 were TDs. We are using it sparingly. All 3 have been on the money. All other throws are shorter than 20-25 yards. At least that's what I remember tracking during the games.

I was a Blake doubter. Note I said was. He has matured a lot in the last half of this year. The Auburn game sealed it for me when he was playing badly to start then got his crap together and asserted his will. He does benefit from receivers who turn 10 yard passes into 80 yard gains, but what QB doesn't. Aside from screen passes that have only one receiver, he is the person making the decision which receiver gets the ball and he is picking the one with the most room to move more often than not. I honestly hate that Blake only has this one year as the QB. I would love to see what he could do with the experience under his belt.

Simms reminds me a great deal of DJ Shockley. Same loyalty & style of play. I just don't see him making it in the NFL though. HOWEVER, I am hoping he is more of the Russell Wilson type.
It's proven he'll do what is asked.....so if he's asked to change positions maybe it'll work out........maybe. either congrats to him for being the walking "you said I couldn't do it" billboard

he has gotten exponentially better with the deep ball since early in the season. Of course Amari being 5 yards away from a defender helps out a bit. :)

Blake is so much more settled in the pocket now. Credit his O-line for pass blocking better than a lot of our teams in the last several years. He usually has plenty of time.

This is such a fun team to watch.
