The 2016 NFL Scouting Combine will take place inside at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis from Feb. 23-29, and several members of Alabama's national championship winning 2015-16 team will participate in the annual NFL event.

Nine former Crimson Tide players will go through meetings with and workouts in front of NFL teams, including running backs Kenyan Drake and Derrick Henry, offensive guard Dominick Jackson, cornerback Cyrus Jones, center Ryan Kelly, defensive end D.J. Pettway, linebacker Reggie Ragland and defensive tackles Jarran Reed and A'Shawn Robinson.

Alabama received the third-most invitations to the Combine, trailing only Ohio State (14) and Notre Dame (10).

One notable absence from the list is quarterback Jake Coker, who participated in the 2016 Reese's Senior Bowl.

The Combine will officially begin, after players arrive, Wednesday, Feb. 24, with media interviews for running backs, offensive linemen and special teamers and will conclude Friday, Feb. 29, with on-field workouts for defensive backs.

Yeah, Coker deserved more of an invite than Dom's sorry ass.

They were about equal IMO.

Dom struggled in pass blocking and had some bad moments in run blocking, but there were times he dominated the shit out of left sides of DL. When the RB runs for a Heisman, every OL has to do his job.

Bottom line though - Dom is a better pro prospect. Had he played guard instead of tackle, the pass blocking wouldn't have been near the issue... He could have a legit future at guard with his strength and run blocking ability.

Jackson may be looked at as a guard.
Charlie Potter, the author of that 'Bolt,' lists Dom as a guard. Considering Charlie works for BOL the chances he knew Dom played tackle are pretty good, no? IF Potter is listing him as a guard, I suppose it's not a stretch to think that's the position group he'll be working with?

I don't think there's any doubt. And I don't think the staff wanted to play him at RT (I believe he started at guard)... They had to out of necessity. When Sheppard left they didn't have enough confidence in other dudes, so they plugged Dom into that spot. His foot speed just isn't quick enough to block those edge guys... Most any of our guards would have struggled with that transition, except Barrett Jones who was a mental freak of nature. I would also expect Ross P to be the next to make that move, unless Baldwin comes in and dominates.

"Professional football is not the same as college football. One rarely hears about “the old NFL try,” or pros playing “with a big heart.”

Decades ago when Bart Starr was a lightly-regarded pro prospect after an indifferent career on very poor pre-Paul Bryant Alabama teams, the Green Bay Packers took a look at him. In a training camp session, Starr earned the respect of Coach Vince Lombardi and thereby the starting job for the Packers, and went on to be a Pro Football Hall of Fame member and the MVP of the first two Super Bowls. Starr had impressed Lombardi by relentlessly running down a defender who had intercepted a pass.

Today a man who won’t bother to fall on his own fumble can be the NFL player of the year."

He did do a fantastic job of setting the backside edge.

There's just no "market" for a guy with this skill set. A run stopping OLB just isn't valuable in the NFL. They're either a very good pass rusher or a coverage LB.

I guess we could make an argument that he is a 4-3 DE... But the inability to rush the passer over the past 2 seasons is troublesome. Definitely not big enough to be a 3-4 DE.

Crazy to think the staff sold him on MLB out of college. He had a really nice freshman year rushing the passer, but couldn't consistently keep that up. Great run stopping DE for us... But unfortunately that role ended up his ceiling.

I wish Coker would have received a shot as well, but he needed the Senior Bowl to really propel him into consideration and build off of his playoff momentum. Unfortunately, he didn't. Hopefully, he'll have a good Pro Day and maybe impress as an undrafted free agent.

Congrats though to the rest who made the cut. Success breeds success. I wish them all the best.

UA will take sole possession of third place in consecutive years with a first round pick this year with 8 straight.

They'll be behind UF with 9 (1983-1991) and Miami with 14 (1995-2008).
