🏈 Nico Iamaleava is no longer a Vol after NIL dispute.

Of course On3 makes it sound like some dramatic showdown, but this is pretty much standard now with these players... it is going on everywhere to some degree. Players always asking demanding more money and being pressured by their "agents" to renegotiate at every turn when the market creates a new high water mark. It's a big reason why as much as I enjoy it college sports, I'd be ok with the entire thing collapsing so that greed doesn't win out.

I've read this is Mo-D. part deux, UT style. The implication is they had their "re-negotiation" in January. I don't know what's going on there. Just what I've read.

However, there's no need for a Vol fan to try to persuade me someone created a bidding war for Nico. It wouldn't even make me blink at 8 million a year.

The school would be smart to negotiate a lower cost deal based on his performance.
he didn't post impressive number this past season. Part of the rumors is that he's looking to go back to West. If he does enter portal, this shakes up the QB roster for other school. Nico goes to this school this qb goes to another, and etc. Tennessee goes after ... a sec QB. so We'll see next week.

Years ago, I'm thinking around two decades now, I met the daughter of one of the USC board member on an LSU site. The lady "knew ball," right? We started messaging, led to texts, phone calls...

She just told me they are talking with Nico's agent. And, she said they aren't the only west coast team. I trust her.

On a funny note...her daughter decided to attend UGA. From that USC background, to UGA...both mom and daughter love it. They visited UA, had a full ride at both schools. UGA had more spending money. I want to say it was around $400 or so a week. I can't fault the decision, ya know?

In my early view/opinion...if Nico pulls this off there is a power dynamic shift in the QB room and interactions with the staff.

If all of this is true he will have a season this fall that looks just like Jalen's did last season. The signs are there.

Tennessee would be smart to cut their ties with Nico and it sends messages to players..... because if they agree to it, then someone is going to get fired this fall.

The Vols leaked all this to the media for a reason. But, they were reckless and irresponsible with their NIL from the jump so they deserve the pain of putting some of the toothpaste back in their own tube.
