🏈 Nick Saban on Julio and Ingram: "That is up to the NCAA"

You maybe right but there was a QB down on the Barn that was benched for a single snap for plagarism. Colt McCoy did take a hunting trip last season that he definitely didn't pay for.

And usually the Compliance Director will make the recommendation to the Athletic Director that the institution should either play the athlete in question or hold him/her out. Then the Athletic Director will make the ultimate decision, weighing the facts known with the facts unknown and the consequences of each option.

Are you comfortable with our current Athletic Director making a correct decision a situation such as this with so many uncertainties involved?

This is just another reason I have grave concerns about the future of our athletic programs. And why someone with wisdom and experience and judgment is far more important sitting in that chair than someone able to glad hand a few boosters with stories of what it was like to work under Coach Bryant and raise a little cash.

Of course, our current Athletic Director can pass the buck (again) and re-assign an underling if/when the decision blows up in our face AGAIN.

Alagator, we've had this conversation before. You and I are in agreement that it is past time for Mal to ride off into the sunset. Let him have a fancy emeritus title maybe, and let him continue in fund raising if he desires, but for the regular decision making process in the athletic department, keep it out of his hands. Wasn't Hart brought in with that purpose in mind?

If the decision is the U of A's, I'd imagine that Mal's boss would have a lot of input into it after the textbook mess up.

A few things everybody is forgetting...
- UA has already discussed this with NCAA. It has been reported that a compliance person flew to Indy a couple of weeks ago and discussed the issue with them. Therefore, everyone (media) assumes the NCAA has this in their court.
- This was "first turned over to the SEC", like all these type issues are, and we haven't heard of anything coming out of the SEC office to state it was forwarded on to the NCAA "for a ruling." So, has the SEC made a decision? If they have then UA is in no way obligated to make it public.
- If the confrence office, which governs its teams, decides it doesn't warrant NCAA attention and at a later date the NCAA looks at everything and thinks otherwise then the conference office, not the school, is at fault. Note: the NCAA cannot and doesn't micro-manage conference offices and they rely on those offices to do their job.
- Lastly, everybody known as credible source on here has said THEY WILL PLAY!! Until they say otherwise get ready for Saturday.

So, you're saying Mal is doing a bang up job as AD.

Simply outstanding.

Now, to be clear to all. I make no suggestion as to good or bad on this situation just yet. I only FEAR the possibility the decision will be laid at his feet.

And if as psychojoe suggests, such a decision would be bumped upstairs from his office, then what the Hell are we paying Moore to do? If the people above Moore would not trust him to make this decision - in a sport Moore is supposed to be an expert, then should they not put someone in the job they DO trust?

If it is indeed Hart, then give Hart the corner office and the fancy title. Do not put the burden of responsibility on your underling.

:deadhorse:

damn, enough of the julio/mark thing...jeeze, you guys are worse than the damn press.

the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

I'm refraining from comment.

People here need to pay attention to USN92. I'm convinced his sources are as solid as they come.

Thanks, but I haven't said anything that anyone whose been paying attention to what has and has not been said by those who matter couldn't figure out.

The only good news pertaining to Mal. Saban would tell Mal what to do in this instance. (mainly cause Mal isnt a leader)

Mal Moore please retire 10 years ago.:nopity:
Tell me what Coach Moore could do about the Athens, AL, guy and I might agree with you.

Right now, I don't see how you or alagator can.

Jerrell is suspended right now because of his crap.

We've actually been pretty calm over here. A certain other Bama Board (which many of us either were or are members of) has reached 18 pages on its thread on this subject. A certain administrator there is saying the usual stuff about not posting rumors and yet fuelling speculation by saying there is more to this than meets the eye.

Plain and simple folks, we need to play a game so we will have something to talk about besides this.

Don't get this wrong...his suspension is academic. But, the old man is pissing me off.

I guess I should say that I cant recall an instance where those with "sources" on these forums have been dead wrong.

But Saban only indicated that it was the NCAA's decision, I don't have sources, but I have always been good at reading the meaning behind a noncommittal response.

Anywho, we all understand that Julio and Ingram really did nothing to warrant being suspended, so if the NCAA withholds a choice, Id just do what should be done anyway and let them play.

The responses here has also made me realize another thing about Alabama that Saban spoke on after the probation thing:

That is that there is a bit of a culture of fear here with regards to the NCAA. A persecution complex if you will. I didn't become a BIG Bama fan till after the Means case so maybe I don't quite understand.
