šŸˆ Nick Saban is a 6 million dollar man

The NCAA should institute a cap on ALL salaries. If a couple mill isn't enough to coach then so be it. They have an opening at Krystal down the road from where I live. Try making a living on that wage. Where does it stop?

If college football is a business, pay all of your employees an equitable wage, not just room and board and a Heisman Trophy. I hate to break it to you, but Saban didn't win a national championship. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 85 guys who attend school in Tuscaloosa did. Tebow would have plowed over Saban's little scrawny ass.

Boom

If you don't like Alabama football, don't contribute to it. I don't like buying lumber at lowe's because I think their prices are too high. Guess what I don't do? I don't buy lumber from Lowe's. If you don't like what the University of Alabama pays it's coach, try the University of South Alabama.

Oh, Argo, people go to jail for comments like you made. That's over the top.

Really? What's the charge?

So everyone else will respond emotionally to your post, and to everyone else's posts on here that dont think the coach makes a difference, but logically, do you really think coaches dont make a difference?? Explain to me then how the same coaches are always the ones winning?? (See Bill Belichick, Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Pete Carroll... and for the contrasting opinion, see Charlie Weiss, the guy before him, Mike Shula) It's not the school, tho granted it helps to be at a traditional powerhouse, but the coach is, I'd say, over 50% of the reason the teams win or lose.

This is rediculous. The way the game is today if you want the best coach you pay him for him. Saban is the best and we all know it. This is the same as that stupid thread comparing Saban to Shula. There is no comparison. Without Saban we would still be a 6-6 team who still couldn't beat UT, LSU, and AU. We would still lose some games to Ole Miss or Miss. ST. Now we are one year removed from a National Championship and only lost our 5th game in three years and people are griping like we only won one game.

Saban is worth every penny we pay him and it is not even debatable.

This thread is insane... lol. I am shocked to see some people actually believe Coach Saban is overpaid. The only thing dumber than this is comparing Saban to Shula. Do you people not remember barely having .500 seasons and being dominated by our rivals? Bama went 9-3 with a new defense, some key injuries, and 6 opponents with byes... and Bama still only missed Atlanta by 4 points. Wow.

Anti-bullying laws. Argo, you are classless to insenuate that someone should commit suicide. That is below low.

Not just Saban, but all major college coaches. $1M/year is insane if you consider the amount of work versus the amount of money paid for other professions.

I am shocked that I'm one of the few people on here that thinks Saban deserves to catch some heat for the Auburn game, especially since he makes more than any other coach in the country. It's amazing that you don't think he should be held accountable at all for the amount of money he is being paid. Instead it's like you guys think, pay him the most and if he does a poor job at times, don't say anything in case you might hurt his feelings.

Saban's first 2 years were very very similar to Shula's last 2 years. Very. There were some key Shula recruits playing on that field in Pasadena last January. I'm not saying Shula is of the caliber of Saban, but at the end of the day...It's the result that counts. For $6M and being the highest paid, Saban has got to do better than the SC and Auburn debacles, and they were his fault. Being the highest paid, he should have been the difference maker in those 2 games.

Bama went 9-3 with a new defense, some key injuries, and 6 opponents with byes...

That's a good point. The 6 oppontents with byes certainly was a tough hump to overcome. Hopefully, things will be better next year.

You should probably study case law regarding anti-bullying laws before floundering about in protest. This isn't school.

And my original point still stands. If you and your BFF only have complaints about the University of Alabama, the University's football coach, or what the University sees fit to pay it's football coach, Paul Johnson could use a little more support in Atlanta.

When someone posts something you don't like, you are certainly quick to want that person dead. I think you have a serious mental illness and in the least you have anger management issues.

At any rate, it's really not worth arguing with a petty, petulant child such as yourself.

You make a good point, but you've got to admit this amount of money(see below) is over the top. While Saban has done a nice job rebuilding and recruiting, this year signals he may not be that great. He certainly lost to a couple of less talented teams this season. He should be catching a lot of heat for this, especially considering the amount of money and support he receives. The team looked very poorly coached in the last 3 quarters of the Auburn game and in the 2009 Sugar Bowl. I'm not convinced that any better than average coach can't excel at Bama. A below average coach can certainly obtain a 10 win season at Bama (see Dubose). Bama provides the most support and some of the best facilities of any program in the nation.

This is a joke, right?

He rebuilt Michigan State and made a decent bowl game, rebuilt LSU and won a title, rebuilt Alabama and won a title. You're right, way overrated. The 2009 Sugar Bowl was nothing more than a team of KIDS that had mailed in the final game because they were pissed off at not making the BCS Championship game. Should they have played better? Absolutely. You cannot always have 85 kids ready to play under any circumstances. Anyone in any form of management role should know that. You can be the best motivator in the world, ultimately you're successes and failures depend on the people you manage and whether they have the personal drive to stay on board even when it is difficult.

You do realize that the teams Bama lost to this season also played a role in the outcome of the game, yes? South Carolina played a LIGHTS OUT game. LSU played their best game on offense of the season. Auburn could have easily mailed it in and coasted through the final three quarters. Hell, Utah came out fired up and ready to go in 2009 and had a great scheme. Sure, Bama played a hand in losing those games but don't ignore the fact that the other kids had to put in the effort as well.

Stupidity should be painful.

You can spell petulant but not insinuate? Either way, I'm glad that I was able to bring you the same sense of hopelessness the rest of us feel every time you and baxter piss and moan about Saban.
