Pretty sure the kid has had like 3 major knee surgeries going back to HS. Not sure if that has anything to do with his value but it's amazing he's able to compete at that level. If someone gives him a chance he may break out... Best of luck to the big guy RTR

Yep, 7th round bust. People looking for anything to tear down what has been built. There was an actual study done and while Bama puts more players in currently, than everyone else, they have a higher success rate vs everyone else, as well. If you put 50 players in and 10 bust, that is 20% bust rate. Now if you only put 20 players in but 8 are a bust, even though that is two less busts, it is a 40% bust rate. Not sure where to find that article but Bama had the lowest percentage of busts of any team in the top 20 total draftees, over the last 10 years.

The NFL owners make millions off avoiding 2nd contracts for vets and instead taking new faces (most in rounds 3-5) to take those positions. If a player makes 5 years in the Not For Long league then salute to them. I am hopeful many of those Bama players will be signed to the practice squad on my birthday......Monday. 68 is the number. I can remember what I wore on my 1st day of school in 1955 but I can't tell what I did on Friday. My disk file needs to be defragmented .....maybe

I'm shocked the Broncos cut Cyrus. At one point he was pushing for a starting spot this camp because of all the injuries and our shitty LT draft pick (Bowles). Elway has been a mess the last few years and isn't feeling the Bama nation. Shiiiiit.

Yeah, I think Birmingham will def. grab some of these guys. Others, like Cyrus and Cyrus will probably be picked up by other NFL teams soon.

As NFL teams released more than 1,000 players over the past two days, some long shots beat the odds to stay on rosters.

6 undrafted rookies with Alabama football roots survive NFL cuts

Two wide receivers who caught 14 passes apiece for Alabama last season are among the undrafted rookies who survived the massive NFL cuts on Saturday, when teams reduced their preseason rosters to the league's regular-season limit.

More than 1,000 players were waived or released since the preseason closed on Thursday night, and the action isn't over yet as teams will compare the new free agents with the players on their rosters during the night. With the waiver-claiming deadline arriving at 11 a.m. CDT Sunday, more roster changes will follow.

For now, though, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Robert Foster, Washington Redskins wide receiver Cam Sims and four other undrafted rookies with Alabama roots are on NFL regular-season rosters.

The other undrafted rookies from state high schools and colleges who earned spots on NFL rosters include Redskins center Casey Dunn(Hewitt-Trussville, Auburn), New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth (Murphy), Minnesota Vikings running back Roc Thomas (Oxford, Jacksonville State) and Baltimore Ravens cornerback Darious Williams (UAB).

Eighteen draft picks with Alabama roots also remain on 53-player rosters. The state's draft picks still with their NFL teams include:

• Miami Dolphins cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick (Alabama), first round.
• Washington Redskins defensive tackle Da'Ron Payne (Shades Valley, Alabama), first round.
• Tennessee Titans linebacker Rashaan Evans (Auburn High, Alabama), first round.
• Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley (Alabama), first round.
• Indianapolis Colts guard Braden Smith (Auburn), second round.
• Detroit Lions running back Kerryon Johnson (Madison Academy, Auburn), second round.
• Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis (Auburn), second round.
• Jacksonville Jaguars safety Ronnie Harrison (Alabama), third round.

Three state players who were drafted in April didn't survive the Saturday cutdown -- Cardinals cornerback Chris Campbell (Central-Phenix City), a sixth-round selection, and Dallas Cowboys running back Bo Scarbrough (Alabama) and Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Joshua Frazier (Alabama), who were seventh-round picks.

Two state players who aren't rookies but didn't play in an NFL game in 2017 remain on rosters. Defensive tackle Devaroe Lawrence (Auburn) spent his rookie season on injured reserve, but is now with the Cleveland Browns after being traded by the New Orleans Saints on Saturday. Running back Troymaine Pope (Anniston, Jacksonville State) played in four games with two teams in 2016, but he spent 2017 on the practice squads of the Colts and Houston Texans. He stuck on the Texans' roster on Saturday.
