I haven't heard any news lately...But it sure does appear that All Of Them are Trying and Hoping Everyone Forgets about The Facts and let the Great Kid just Play Football! The potential ratings and money they stand to lose with Auburn out of the NC Game seems to be the only concern?! So would anyone, everyone give me your thoughts? Thanks, in advance...

Roll Tide Roll!

This isn't going to go away or be resolved anytime soon. The season will be concluded, awards given, etc. before the NCAA is given the ok from the FBI to proceed. We will then hear all the screaming of "unfair" from the BARN "family".

Yes it will take some time to do a thourough investigation. If I were an Auburn fan......id be more worried that I wasnt hearing anything.

If Auburn had another pay-to-play scheme going and played an ineligable player in order to win a championship despite knowing of their violations, they will get the death penalty. Thats an unheard of mockery of the system, and they will be lucky not to have their football team disbanded permanently.

It out does Albert Means, Reggie Bush, and alot of others.

Playing one ineligible player might not get you the death penalty. If the number was higher, say 17 or so, it might be a big deal.

I don't see it taking 4 years before we know something, but it's going to take more than 4 weeks. It's only been about 4-6 weeks since this story started gaining steam. Problems for Auburn are wide and deep, but the most glaring problem? Every team in the southeast that Auburn is recruiting against for talent is going to use this as fodder for a kid to NOT go to Auburn. All that negative recruiting they used on us last year? Coming back to them 10-fold.

Yessir. Auburn made this bed, and now they must lay in it. Even if they are cleared of any wrong doing, this kid is ultimately going to be found ineligible, and all of the record books will then reflect that. Still, I think they and their idiot fans would rather win a championship that they know will administratively be taken away, just for the joy of actually winning one. You think us strutting around with an SEC plaque and then the Crystal Ball made them just the teensiest bit jealous?

Yea, that was just "worst case scenario", if just he is ineligible then they have to give all things back.

But I think that something like that might be going on. Even with the wild rumours out there...some sseem plausible with the type of people involved.

EDIT: ( Getting crazy internet rumor that was probably somewhere on the giant cam newton thread)

Former Mississippi State player Kenny Rogers is scheduled to meet with officials from the Mississippi Secretary of State's office Dec. 9 to discuss the recruitment of Auburn quarterback Cam Newton.
Rogers, who has worked with a sports agent, has said Newton's father, Cecil, asked two Mississippi State coaches for up to $180,000 at a hotel in Starkville, Miss., to secure his son's commitment to the Bulldogs. Rogers says the coaches declined the request, and MSU has said all of its employees acted properly.
Cecil Newton has denied any wrongdoing.
Rogers' attorney, Doug Zeit, said his client will meet with officials from the secretary's office and has been interviewed by the NCAA....

Ex-MSU player to talk to state officials

Mike Slive wants to keep the Cam Newton saga low key until the barn plays for the National Championship. Too much money for Slive and the conference to loose. After that they can take away from Auburn but the SEC Conference will keep the Money. Why do you think Slive takes up for Auburn? It again is about the money $$$$

:panic:Exactly! He's protecting them big time. It's all about the benjamins!

If it is just the Cam Newton thing, they will get hammered only if it can be shown that they knew he was paid and played him anyway. Otherwise, as stated he might retroactively be declared ineligible and they might have to vacate some wins.

If the worst that is rumored is true, and they have cranked up the old Pat Dye pay for play machine, and it was caught on tape in the MacGregor case they will get USC like penalties.

If the worst that is rumored is true, SACS will take away their accreditation, meaning no NCAA sports PERIOD
