🏈 New rumors of A&M and the SEC??

I have the feeling Texas is fine as an independent. I just don't see them joining the SEC. They have their own TV network, they make the most money in CFB practically every year, they get the best recruits in the state.

ha, interesting thought.

I don't like the idea of TAMU coming to the SEC to be honest. I don't like the idea of more teams in a conference, but it's probably inevitable the idea of super conferences.

You guys think Auburn is the little sister of the state, I'd argue that Auburn has nothing on TAMU.

^^This. I could definitely see Texas go independent if that's what it came down to, but don't underestimate Beebe. My guess is that they are already working on who else they could bring in and have been since Nebraska and Colorado announced their departures. Either way, I don't see Texas joining the SEC and that's fine with me.

I could see UTx going independent regaurdless if the Big12 folds or not. And with the way the conference is letting UTx screw (and to some extent OU) the rest of the members, I can't believe the other tems ever agreed to the new terms after NU and CU left.

Bloggers on aggie message boards have been really talking this up. Obviously they are unhappy about the advantages that Texas has in the current Big Twelve structure. I am pretty skeptical about it. Inn the time frames they are mentioning it seems impossible.

I agree that Texas would be okay as an independent and I'm sure A&M has a major inferiority complex with regards to Texas. If we do go the way of the super conference, I would imagine that the days of out of conference games would be close to over. With 14 teams, you could make an entire season of just conference games. Could all of this be a precursor to a playoff system?

I love the idea.

It'll be a great match-up to see A&M play LSU every year.

There's a reason Jerry Jones brought the A&M in his stadium besides ticket sales, the fact he went to Arkansas, etc. Arkansas' connection to that conference makes another great matchup.

To say the least, I love A&M being in the SEC.

For the east I'd love to see Clemson in...they've got some history playing Georgia and we already have their annual game with USC.

lets not forget about what happens if two teams come in from the west, could mean that bama and/or auburn go to east side.

TAMU has some cool traditions, no doubt about it and they have a pretty cool stadium. I just don't like the idea of the SEC growing, but like I said it's probably inevitable. If it has to be a team to join, I'd rather have Texas than TAMU, but that is me. I'll take their "confident almost arrogant attitude" over a team that has male "cheerleaders" (aka yell leaders) any day of the week :)

TAMU could gain a recruiting advantage being in the SEC here in Texas, I know they are tired of Texas - I get to hear about it almost every day from some fans.

Auburn is in Georgia anyway.

As we can, sort of. With the national TV package through ESPN/CBS we get the SEC broadcasted in Texas as it is...but, it would open the borders to Louisiana for other teams as they would probably (they, as in LSU) expand recruiting efforts.

I've heard this floating around too. aTm people seem to be behind it.

If any team from the West moves to the East it would be Auburn. I don't know how I feel about that but geographically it makes sense. I'd like to have the UF game back annually. It wouldn't crush me to lose LSU. It feels like a forced rivalry to me. The game grabs headlines because the SECW is generally a three team race; any time two of those three are playing each other it is big.

I wondered how long it would take someone to bring up AU and the DP or being kicked out of the SEC. Your cohorts (term used loosely) on TideFans have been screaming that for WEEKS.

Regardless of the how or why, I think aTm will make the move; they clearly want to. We will either have to add a team to the East (Clemson and GA Tech make sense, VA Tech will get attention too) or add two teams to the West and bump AU to the East.

It will be another interesting twist in conference realignment.

The DP....I hate to hear that term thrown around. No way Auburn is going to get the DP....anyway.......

I would think AU goes to the East as well if they move a West team that is, with 2 more teams they would be able to keep the Bama game on their schedule since you figure there would be another cross conference game between East and West teams. This could get interesting, one thing about the SEC, they like to quietly make moves.

The only thing that comes to mind is if they moved AU to the east they'd have to change the schedule, completely. There's no way the SEC losses the revenue from the Iron Bowl (term needs to be dropped: not in B-ham.)

They would have to go to two teams out of the SEC East as permanant teams on every years schedule. I DON'T want to see Auburn or UT off our schedule each year.
