💬 New perspective from 15th to Bryant (new bridge.)

Ugh. Take out for one second gameday traffic seven Saturday's a year. This is a college town in the country that I prefer to remain that. if I wanted inner-city, I would have gone to Georgia Tech or Georgia State. Tuscaloosa is losing its charm.

In what universe is there charm found waiting 10 minutes for a train to pass?

You're claim is about waiting ten minutes when there is a 100% chance you're wasting ten minutes on something just as productive as waiting on a train probably multiple times a day? I also don't find charm in bridges and concrete. Spaghetti Junction in Atlanta is gorgeous, :cautious: . Aren't there other plans for more of these on the east side of campus? Trains are small town charm, not high rise condos, apartment complexes, and concrete slabs everywhere.

I HATED that train when I lived in Tuscaloosa. I was living on the north side of 15th and got caught too many times.

"Trains are small town charm" doesn't change the point they're a pain in the ass no matter where you're caught.

I've not heard of any plans to do something on the east side of campus. Where? Why? Campus drive runs underneath McFarland and University isn't affected by the train if you're headed to Alberta City. There aren't any "train type" issues over there.

Trains are a pain if you're rushing all of the time, of course, but otherwise who cares? I get society is more rushed than ever these days, but that is also part of the problem. It ain't just trains, it's parents not wanting to spend time to eat family meals at night, converse with their kids, teach your kids how to play sports, educate your kids outside of school, sit down with your husband/wife and talk about...anything, it goes on and on with why little things like this continue to matter. No one wants to be inconvenienced in the slightest.

I'm not talking about a train saving bridge, but weren't we all talking about a bridge over by the Law School that was going to help traffic on Gamedays and such? Is this the same thing?

Folks coming to home games will be much happier with the traffic flow this year... some of the major projects have finally wrapped up (or are getting close)... mainly Lurleen through downtown and the MacFarland/20-59 bridge/interstate work phase. As for the new bridge on campus, keep in mind it's a big help for students, but also first responders.

The trains don't impact inbound traffic too much on game days. You can only go a few more blocks before you hit the traffic block on 12th street, so having a train actually helps the traffic move between 15th and 12th streets. Leaving via 10th Avenue will get backed up. If traffic now takes the bridge, it will back up there, too.
