What exactly are they solving with this?
Trying to squash any individualism at all seems like to me.
In a team sport of all places.

Agreed. TEAM sport. Make your team stand out with the level of play, instead of yourself with your "dress".
So, we should get rid of individual awards then?

If they're given out during the game, yes.

Silly argument
Silly argument? Can’t have individualism in a ā€œteam sportā€, but can award individualism? That absolutely no sense

Not during the game. Unless you want a "tightest tank top" award to be given out in the first TV time out...

I'm sitting here trying to remember the time I recognized a football player by the way he was dressed or looked. Not in the field of play. I can't think of one. Basketball is a completely different story. There's a sport where individuals are highlighted--especially after school. We've been seeing it filter down for years now starting with items like compression sleeves (a lot thought that was a fashion statement when it was a little of both...fashion and conditioning benefits.)

There's a lot of talk lately about Embiid's facemask...you'll all remember Rodman's hair...the NBA's use of the black face mask...

Yeah because if a cpl players have their jersey rolled up it really kills a team's chemistry right? Good lord.

Kelly Washington, UT.

His antics and look at me style disrupted that team. He'd shown out (as a compliment) in '01 and "pulled a Brodie" when it came to the off-season S&C work that summer. It didn't stop him from showboating around...that rolled up sleeve was seen on a few of his pics. He paid for it...wasn't ready for his sophomore year and remained banged up throughout.

He gave himself his own nickname that summer...can't remember.

I recall a few years back the entire football team of FAMU was playing Arkansas and they lost a timeout every quarter for coming out with jerseys that had the same color as the numbers. But the thing always is with people that if you don't continue to tighten stuff like this up every so often the kids and sometimes the team just keep pushing the envelope.

But everything you describe about him is everything other than the rolled up sleeve being a distraction. Chance Warmack playing with his tummy hanging out because it was more comfortable to him doesn't distract anyone. Same way it didn't distract anyone when players started either tucking their sleeves or having them sewn instead of just freely hanging.

I can understand trying to make sure players have in a knee pad but they also outlawed just rolling the pants leg up a little bit where skin is showing but still having the knee pad in. I think a lot of the kids trying to stop wearing things like hip pads, butt pads, knee pads, etc. is just flat out trying to be faster on the field and not really worrying about taking a hit in those spots.

As far back as Musso, I've seen players who liked the cut off look. With the Italian Stallion, I figured it was because it was harder to tackle him. With Chance, it was probably just cooler for him. Others like their jerseys to hang out and some accentuate that with even longer T-shirts hanging down. When you add all this individualism to each team it tends to start looking kinda sloppy. I could personally live with the cut off jerseys but they do need to tuck it and get back to wearing full pants for their own protection.
Musso without his tear-away is like Jack Daniels without a little ice and a splash of water.....Had ole #22 been a step faster he would have been in the NFL Hall of Fame....then again had he been step slower he might have been in the Million Dollar Band

Nothing makes less sense that the kids taking the knee protection away. Growing up watching Monday Night Football, Howard Cosell would say at least once a game, "it's the knee, always the knee. Now, I get that a lot of those injuries would have happened and did happen with full pads, but it's a collision sport and the knees are always the most vulnerable and suspectable to injury.

Shaun Dion would wear the short pants even after his first knee surgery. When he broke his kneecap he was still wearing his pants above the knee.

That knee pad is literally going to prevent zero injuries.
