It's the knee area that concerns me if anything. Guys have been trying to eliminate knee pad protection for some time and I've seen a few players that looked like they were wearing shorts with small thigh pads in them. I think some of this can be defined as advantages on the field and some of it is images in their head of what they want to personally look like. How many times during practices does coach Saban and assistants have to keep telling the players to tuck their jerseys in?

As far back as Musso, I've seen players who liked the cut off look. With the Italian Stallion, I figured it was because it was harder to tackle him. With Chance, it was probably just cooler for him. Others like their jerseys to hang out and some accentuate that with even longer T-shirts hanging down. When you add all this individualism to each team it tends to start looking kinda sloppy. I could personally live with the cut off jerseys but they do need to tuck it and get back to wearing full pants for their own protection.

During the Musso era and through Coach Bryant's tenure, Alabama had "short" jerseys because it was hot (temperatures on artificial turf in the sun could easily be +20 degrees). The jersey maker actually made them shorter. Still, some players would tape their jerseys up on the inside to allow more air to circulate. Then the NCAA said NO.

Yep, and they weren't exactly thrilled with the quality of the material we were using either.

Knees should be covered....protects the knee....
Some of other.....
I dont know...
If its all a team game....then why is there individual awards....
Chance wore his tshirt...maybe they never could get a big enough jersey....probably had to sew 2 Ts together...

What exactly are they solving with this?
Trying to squash any individualism at all seems like to me.
In a team sport of all places.

Agreed. TEAM sport. Make your team stand out with the level of play, instead of yourself with your "dress".
So, we should get rid of individual awards then?

If they're given out during the game, yes.

Silly argument

Silly argument? Can’t have individualism in a ā€œteam sportā€, but can award individualism? That absolutely no sense

Not during the game. Unless you want a "tightest tank top" award to be given out in the first TV time out...
