Saban on the search: "Ask Ian"

Here's something I could not make up if I tried. In fact, I'm still laughing as I type this out. Alabama coach Nick Saban was in Mobile at practice for the Under Armour Senior Bowl, when intrepid Birmingham News reporter Doug Segrest tracked him down. As Saban came off the field to discuss the Senior Bowl and his players, Doug also asked him about his search to hire an offensive coordinator.

"If you want to know what I'm doing, ask Ian," Saban said, smiling. "He's got all the answers. You tell him I said that."

Now that's hilarious. Coach Saban knows how ridiculous he is, let it be known anything he says isn't credible.

Good stuff! I do think that Saban got a little OC work accomplished thanks to the Senior Bowl festivities, and might get more done before the week is over. He is very thorough with his hirings, and he can gather a TON of info from Mobile this week.

I believe the reference is to Ian Rappaport (sic?), the person who writes a blog on Alabama (he may be the Alabama beat writer) for the Birmingham News. A blog that seems to print every rumor, innuendo, and possibility about UA. Hence, I believe, the reason Saban was tweaking Segrest's nose.

This is a side of Coach Saban that I really like. It is a lighthearted version of Coach relative to the proccess in terms of how he normaly treats the press from a relative standpoint. :wink:

I was invited to help again, but had to turn them down because of other plans this week. :cry: :twisted: My prior plans ended up being washed however, so I ended up with nothing to do, but it was too late to get the press pass. :x
