Chadarius Townsend, four-star safety from Tanner High School in Ala., committed to Alabama in June shortly after receiving an offer from the Crimson Tide. It took him a little while to go public with the decision.
"I was really just trying to hold off from announcing," Townsend said. "I wanted to see these schools and experience them. I committed to Alabama in mid-June. I don't know why I decided to wait to announce it.
Townsend gave a few reasons about why he selected the Crimson Tide.
"Everything up there is really good," he said. "There is nothing wrong with Alabama. I really like the people around there and the coaches. It just felt like family."
The four-star prospect plays on both sides of the ball. He is open to any position at the next level.
"They recruited me as an athlete," Townsend said. "I am going to do whatever it takes to be on the field. I really enjoy playing quarterback, but I also like safety. I think I can do pretty good at safety. I took one year off from playing safety, but I am starting there this year."
Townsend grew up an Auburn fan. He has an offer from the Tigers, is solid with his commitment to Alabama.
"I feel like I am 100-percent committed to Alabama," he said. "I am going to do whatever it takes in school to graduate early. I would say the only other school I would be interested in hearing from is LSU."
