I understand the middle school scholarship offer deal, but shy One July? Come on!

These are life changing decisions made by 17 year olds, one of many thay they must make during that time. Compressing the time window, forcing everyone of them to rush their research and decision process relative to schdule we have today can only hurt every decision's chances being the right one, the safe one.

How does having an extra two months to think things over hurt anyone? Where else is that wrong? Marriage? Having children? A change in one's career? Ready or Not Here I come.

What's the lesson being taught to these "Student" Athletes? What are they gaining with the change?

I'm with you on the July thing. July is way too late. By then the guys have already started high school practices, getting ready to start school, etc....

If this happens I don't think much will change on the recruiting front though. You'll just have an onslaught of commitments on July 1. At first this whole thing really aggravated me, but remember a guy isn't truly ours anyway until he signs his name on the dotted line in Feb. If anything the thing that aggravates me the most is the NCAA's knee-jerk reaction to everything within their control.
