🏈 NCAA approves waiver, allows Alabama scholarship for former prized recruit, Elisha Shaw

Getting to Alabama was the goal for Elisha Shaw. Injuries ended his football career, but the former top recruit will end up in Tuscaloosa anyway.

The NCAA on Monday approved a waiver to give him a non-football scholarship. Alabama confirmed the news Shaw posted on his Twitter account earlier in the day.

The ruling means Shaw won't count against the 85 scholarship-limit set by the NCAA.

Shaw, a defensive lineman, injured his neck as a senior and was advised to give up his football career. He had a scholarship offer from Alabama, which the school promised to honor despite his inability to play football.

The news of his NCAA waiver was delivered by social media Monday.

In a separate Twitter interaction, another user asked Shaw if he'd be playing at Alabama. His response: "I wish."
