šŸ“ Nation’s No. 1 athlete sees Alabama as ā€œbest fitā€ for him defensively

The nation’s No. 1 athlete, Mecole Hardman, Jr., is heading to Alabama this week for the LSU game on an unofficial visit.

ā€œI’m looking forward to that,ā€ Hardman said. ā€œThat’s my first time ever seeing an Alabama game at their home stadium live. I’m really not going to it with any high expectations. I just want to be shocked.ā€

The 5-star prospect from Georgia’s Elbert County High School is a high school quarterback but wants to play receiver and defensive back in college. Hardman also wants to play early and return kicks.

It may sound like a bit of sacrilege to Crimson Tide ears, but he has the burst, quickness and top-end speed that conjure up images of what Alabama legend David Palmer did during his high school days at Birmingham’s Jackson-Olin High School.

The senior feels Tennessee is the best fit for him offensively, but his decision will be based on more than that. He realizes his ceiling in pro football will likely be at cornerback because there aren’t too many 5-foot-11 receivers that get selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

ā€œDefensively wise, Alabama is the best fit for me because of the schemes they run,ā€ Hardman said. ā€œThey play a lot of man. I think I fit that scheme perfectly.ā€

UGA is also a major contender. Hardman feels that the Bulldogs offer a good marriage of playing on both sides of the ball and they’ve also let him know he will play early.

Hardman has already visited Miami (Fla.) and has also settled on an official visit to Michigan for the Ohio State game weekend. He’s also planning official visits to TCU and Oregon at this time.

He has visited UGA and Tennessee more than all his other favorites combined. He’s so familiar with those options he won’t take an official to either school.

That’s also why he is just taking an unofficial visit to Alabama at this time.
