Saban: There's always guys you thought you might not get that you get and guys you thought you were going to get that you don't get.
Saban: "Overall, I think we solved a lot of needs in this class."
Saban: You have to try to solve some of the needs of your team. I think we were able to do that in this class.
Saban on Alabama's five DB signees: "We felt really, really good about the five guys we were able to attract at that position, and those guys are going to have a great opportunity to compete on our team."
Saban: "You can't look at a puppy dog and look at his feet and know how big he's going to get some day. The real evaluation ... is down the road in 2-3 years."
"Sometimes it matches up in terms of how you get ranked and rated and sometimes it doesn't, but you have to address needs." Saban then points at the defensive back signees: "Patrick Surtain is ranked as one of the top guys at his position."
Saban: The recruiting calendar has changed how we recruit.
Saban on staff turnover: There may be some prospects....that might have been a little bit of an issue with them. Saban said the coaches he hired did a great job of trying to recruit late in the process. Said he understands that certain prospects may have had relationships with coaches that left.
Saban: "We felt really, really good about the five guys we were able to attract at (defensive back)."
Saban: We're actually hoping to get one more DL in this class.
This one is for you @Birdman37
Saban: "I think we've all grown to understand that commitments don't mean much."
Saban - Rather than "reach" for a QB in this class, Bama will look to "fill it in another way" this year and try to land a top QB next year.
