| LIFE Name a church activity that everyone seems to love, but you don't.

2 things, though I could list more depending on the church/denomination...

1- When I was younger, I hated all the singing. Boring. I know they are not singing for me, or to me, and it's not about me... but still. Now, most all these churches have ditched the choir in favor of "bands" (or a combo in some cases). It has made me miss when it was just the choir. Some places are not as bad as others, and I seem to be a small minority who can't stand it, but man it grates me.

2- I'll admit upfront this is a weird one, but I hate the, "everyone turn around and say hi and good morning to the people around you!" I don't know if that's just a thing in the south or what, but I've been to multiple places that do it. So awkward. And for someone who can say some wildly inappropriate things at the most inappropriate times, it's best that I'm not encouraged to interact with people I hardly know (or don't know) in a church setting.

Listening to someone read the lesson. I also have a Bachelors Degree in Theology beside my educational degrees.
Bingo!

Synopsis: An adult, "teaching" children, as if they were adults. You, of all people, should understand this completely.

For one hour, out of 168 in a week, kids are put in a situation where they are totally unaccustomed. It's not a learning environment because there wasn't/isn't "stimuli" that fosters learning.

I could go on here...gotta a story that covers about four years of my life directly related to this subject of the move from "Sunday School to Children's Church."

I should have kept that paper.

I hate to admit it, sining as well. I know hat the Bible says, and I know its a form of worship, so i do it. But I just don't enjoy it.
@rueben , I'm going to guess you're missing a "g" and not a second "n" up there. That would change things, significantly. I have a real problem enjoying praise & worship music, and even more so when they lazily try to fit an old hymn into a praise & worship melody. I have to remember I'm not singing for my enjoyment, and John Wesley's Directions for Singing is always a good reminder for me:

Here we share the “Directions for Singing” that were given by John Wesley. We find them as relevant today as the moment they were inked.

1. Learn these tunes before you learn any others, afterwards learn as many as you please.

2. Sing them exactly as they are printed here, without altering or mending them at all; and if you have learned to sing them otherwise, unlearn it as soon as you can.

3. Sing all – see that you join the congregation as frequently as you can. Let not a slight degree of weakness or weariness hinder you. If it is a cross to you, take it up and you will find a blessing.

4. Sing lustily – and with good courage. Beware of singing as if you were half-dead or half-asleep; but lift up your voice with strength. Be no more afraid of your voice now, nor more ashamed of its being heard, than when you sang the songs of Satan.

5. Sing modestly – do not bawl so as to be heard above or distinct from the rest of the congregation that you may not destroy the harmony, but strive to unite your voices together so as to make one melodious sound.

6. Sing in time – whatever time is sung, be sure to keep with it. Do not run before and do not stay behind it; but attend closely to the leading voices and move therewith as exactly as you can and take care not to sing too slow. This drawling way naturally steals on all who are lazy; and it is high time to drive it out from among us and sing all our tunes just as quick as we did at first.

7. Sing spiritually – have an eye to God in every word you sing. Aim at pleasing Him more than yourself, or any other creature. In order to
attend strictly to the sense of what you sing, and see that your heart is not carried away with the sound, but offered to God continually; so shall your singing be such as the Lord will approve here, and reward when he cometh in the clouds of heaven.

Because it's always been incorrectly done.
@alabama mike here's a case in point grabbed from today's headlines. Consider, none of these children are bored. The church grounds and the surrounding neighborhood are spotless due to the 2AM cleaning crews.

And, no one EVER falls asleep in the Sunday morning service!!!

That gives a whole new meaning to "spiritual high."
