for some reason i couldn't post this in Porkchop's thread. :headscratch:
Much of what you said Chop definitely resonates with me.
Your son wasn't alone. I'm sitting on the couch with my father watching the game, LSU's first possession of the second half, my father says, "Miles probably wants some points in this drive."
then comes fourth down and my father said, "Miles is going to fake the punt, he wants to keep the ball." I too was thinking the same. Then the camera zooms in on Miles and he bends down as if anxious about the upcoming play, and my father and I immediately begin yelling, "watch for the fake, watch for the fake!" anyway, other Bama fans with whom i've spoken also expected it too. someone's head should roll for that single play alone!
here are some of my other observations:
Itās Week 10, at LSU, after an idle week, and we are still using the Wildcat? When has it ever worked this season?
Where is the offensive creativity? No play action (you know, when you have a Heisman winner and the nationās best backup at RB it might be effective to fake to them to open up the pass). No misdirection. No Ingram and Richardson on the field at the same time. We saw new offensive wrinkles in ā09 with the Pistol and Wildcat formations, but as far as I can see, this yearās offense has shown nothing new. Please tell me our coaches didnāt expect Mark and Trent to win every game for us this season!
What happened to the āexplosiveā plays that our players and coaches boasted about during the offseason? Was not the media predicting this to be the most potent Bama offense ever? Where are the vertical strikes from McElroy?
Where is the evidence of all the supposed depth that Saban has recruited? Letās see, Iāve seen Ingram and Richardson hobbling around, but I havenāt seen the other RB reserves get meaningful reps. It's not ārealā depth if you can't play someone until the outcome is decided! Yes I know Lacy fumbled twice in the redzone early in the year, but you canāt banish him for the rest of the season, especially with Mark and Trent dinged up! And what about Goode ... and Fowler who bulldozed Duke defenders when given a chance to play?!
What about all the DL and LBs I see on the roster who I donāt see on the field, especially with so many starters banged up and hobbling around? Is Sabanās defense so difficult to learn that we canāt utilize our bluechip recruits until they are Juniors?
and to add to what Chop said about defending the option, every week i wonder as i watch teams across the country: why do so many defenses wait for the QB and RB to come to them? why don't the outside defenders immediately take out the option guy so that the QB is forced to keep the ball, get hit more, while keeping the ball closer to the inside defensive pursuit???
How does Bobby Williams still have a job on this staff as special teams coordinator?
Why can a 12-year old see this and not our coaches?
How bout that 2-point conversion?
Quick screen left has to go!!!! Someone needs to tell McElwaine now to get rid of that sh*t right now. That play has disaster written all over it.
The defense continues to play undisciplined.
The defense of the option tonight is just another example of that.
I know we're young on defense, but I've just had it with this team this year. They've gotten worse every week.
