I hardly ever post in here. I mainly read other's postings and that's it. I recently got the opportunity to attend the Alabama/Auburn game in person, my first ever college game to see live in person. I had always heard so many good things about how pretty Auburn's campus is. Well I guess it was, but let me tell you the people (auburn fans) were rude and classless. I didn't meet one friendly auburn person. All I heard were rude comments about our 4 million dollar man and how he was no good, and six in a row. I have never been in such a hurry to leave a place as I was there. Auburn may be a beautiful campus, but their fan base made it very UGLY to me.

If I never see Auburn again it will be too soon........

I hope to attend a bama game next year and hope my experience will be better.

From what ive seen Alabama fans are very nice, Im not being baised, I just think alabama has better fan support and a cleaner, better looking campus.

Bama consist more of a conservative fan/campus environment. A cool, classy bunch of folk! No offense to the libs. :D

I can agree on Auburn having a very unclassy group of fans . I'm already looking forward to going to the games next season and hopefully for a better outcome on the Ironbowl. ROLL TIDE!!!!!

Well, I hate that you had a bad time with some fans. The campus is indeed very nice, if you don't mind the perpetual large-scale construction projects that are going on.

Maybe your next trip will be better. We had some Tide fans right next to us, and we circled up around their fire pit after the game to let traffic clear out. Good times.

I truly am sorry to hear about your bad experience. Though it makes me a little biased with my orange and blue glasses I have always found our fans(for the most part) to be extremely classy, even to Bama fans. I really am surprised at how bad you thought and was and for whoever the fans were I apologize on their behalf. They don't represent Auburn as a whole by any means.

On a more competitive note:
I'll take Auburn over T-Town any day.
A small quiet town vs. a place where I feel like I'll be shot(not including campus, I like the campus, though not as much as Auburn's.)

Maybe the Alumni section was pretty good, but I sat in the upper east section just above the student section. I watched Alabama fans get pushed around and harassed all night long. Hats were stolen and passed up to be thrown out of the stadium. It was probably the most disgusting thing I've seen in a while. Sure, I don't think it's a great idea to sit in the opposing team's student section, but why the heck would you sell your student ticket to someone you're not sure is a fan? I

On another note, I sat right next to a few Barners... They were rather docile. In fact, the man next to me never even seemed to get excited.

BTW, I'll hopefully have an article written by tomorrow sometime.

Wow. That is honestly embarrasing to hear. As a student I know that being a student is no excuse for such poor behavior. I once again apologize on behalf of those fans. Hopefully they will learn what it means to be an Auburn fan and stop embarrasing the rest of us. I was in the student section but was in the block seating so we didn't have many bama fans there and the ones who were there were friends.

Auburn reminds me a lot of a larger version of my home town. Big jacked up trucks everywhere, parties out in sheds/barns, and the like.

Hm, well I've been to T-town to visit friends on several occasions and do not fret, you guys have your fair share of the ridiculous trucks too.
Never had a party in a barn here in Auburn, but hey I guess I learn new things about my school from people who never went here every day.

LMAO

I was called by a buddy Sat asking where we were tailgating.....Cow pasture 42B was my reply. Everything looks the same there.

MSU is the worst stop in the league HANDS DOWN but Aub is a solid 2nd.

aubrun itself has shown a little resurgence. It's actually a little on the pricey side for housing, but it's because of an educational donut effect. The surrounding area is SO crappy (particularly schools) that anyone with interest in having their kids in an acceptable school system has to live in the city limits. That tendency to pack into aubrun is at the expense of the surrounding area, driving it to rock, rock bottom.

Not much competition to be the loveliest village on the plains.

Economically, the donut effect has been repeated several times around the State. Dothan is perhaps the best example. The more Dothan grows, the more it sucks commerce from the surrounding small towns like Abbeville and Columbia. On a much smaller scale, Monroeville has done the same to Beatrice and Peterman. In these instances, those communities are forced to hang on (or in Peterman's case, hang it up) until there is enough development for them to become bedroom communities of the larger town.

Come on over to Tuscaloosa next year. At least when you encounter a crappy fan, chances are you'll be on the same side. :D

I don't even buy gas in Lee County, much less attend games there.

Everywhere has big trucks of course, lol. Auburn seemed to have a few more than regular though.

Seriously? Lol, many of the Auburn people tell me that's why they like it, because it has a "hometown" (I'm trying to use nice words for you) feel to them. Sounds like you took a little offense to what I said. Shows a little insecurity I guess. I've been to Auburn twice and both times the place I went to was a barn and their was a band playing there/a lot of people, so obviously either you're being deliberately ignorant to try and save face, or you are a hermit. I didn't even say what I said in a negative way, so I'm not sure why you got all defensive there sport.

Yeah, sounds about right. I have a few friends who attend/love MSU. I've been down there two or three times, but it's not all that great. I had fun, but I think it was the company I was with rather than the place. I actually thought about graduate school there. Then again, my graduate school choices have ranged from there to Alabama to Memphis to Kansas.

At the risk of losing cool points, I have several friends who live in Auburn and have always liked the town. The campus is nice enough, and the women are hot. I have not been there for a game, but wouldn't mind going.

However, if someone thinks that they are likely to get shot in Tuscaloosa, you are probably not hanging around the right parts of town, or are trying to make a purchase which would be less than legal. I have lived in Tuscaloosa for 25 years and no one that I know has ever been shot. I was also a police officer for the city and never worked a shooting so that is a perception of yours that is not based in reality my friend.

Yeah, rolltide1969, since you've never been to BDS, let's make plans now to be there next year for the Iron Bowl.

P.S. Hey people, get over it. We work together. ROFL
