🏈 Mountain west bows out

"I think it's the unknowns," Thompson told ESPN on Monday. "It still comes down to effective mitigation of all the risks they're facing. For many weeks, our group has been saying we just don't see a path forward. There are just too many unknowns medically. That is really the focus: the unknowns in the medical world."

And here we are again. What's changed since they announced their schedule for the fall last week?

This whole thing has politics written all over it. The MAC commissioner stated the medical people made the biggest case for postponement of the 2020 season. I think he mentioned the virus causes some heart problems. I suppose his medical people just intentionally forgot to tell him that there are heart and etc. problems with any type of virus or infection.

The majority of the public are low information people. They know headlines and maybe the first paragraph but they never really know how any of it fits together, often defer to authorities that they like or feel closer to, and have a strong confirmation bias. So the "new" information about heart issues coming from the head of the conference they are closest to sways them more than anything the head of any other conference could say, especially one of those P5 monsters.
