🏈 Mississippi State week

Been interesting reading some of the info on MSU. Sounds like they have a very solid D. I guess I have not really followed them but found this surprising with Leach.

Seems rather relative at this point. In terms of scoring defense anyway, they are allowing 26 points per game. Which actually when you think about it with this era of almost everybody running high octane offenses, that is probably like giving up 15 points per game 10 years ago, which was pretty darned good.

Miss St. DC Zach Arnett had great success out West before being hired by Leach. If Saban is right (of course he is) and modern CFB rules favor the offense - perhaps a new defensive approach is needed for success against modern offenses. I don't know if Arnett's approach is the "answer". I guess we'll find out a lot this weekend when his 'D' goes up against the nation's best Tide offense.

Looking forward to seeing "The Pirate" bringing his pass happy offense to T'town. This week, more than ever, our DL has to get pressure on MSU QB. Our DB's and LB's cannot be expected to cover a guy/area for long periods of time. Heck, this week we may see a quarter package and half dollar package in the defensive backfield. ;):ROFLMAO:

When you look at their scoring defense numbers they really aren't affecting the offenses they are playing.

They did well with LSU holding them to a touchdown less than they are averaging since their season opener. A&M is averaging 27.5 points per game, they scored 28 on MSU. UK is averaging 24.4, they allowed 24. They gave up 21 to Arkansas who's been averaging 23.

Purely based on numbers Bama should put 45-50 on the board; essentially what they've been averaging.
