🏈 Mississippi State just needed another drive to beat Alabama, Dak Prescott says

They scored to cut it to 5 pts with 15 SECONDS to play!!

"Losing by five right there at the end of the game," quarterback Dak Prescott said at SEC Media Days last week in Hoover. "Another minute or another drive on offense and I think we win that game."
Another minute? No. Both scoring drives in the fourth were three minutes plus.

However, another drive on offense? Possibly. They scored on two of their last three possessions. If it weren't for Landon's INT, it would have been three for three. The defense definitely wasn't stopping their offense in the last part of that game.

Eh, same could be said for any other close game. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. If they'd have scored earlier in the game, or stopped Bama's offense on one of the scoring drives, they would've beat us too. Big whoop.

I get what you're saying here, Jill.

Here's where I tend to tread carefully. How often have you seen a Bama fan say the Tide was a TD away from playing for an NC? Coulda.
How many times have we seen people talk about OJ and the Ole Miss game. Shoulda.
Or, if the Tide had won against Ohio State what would Bama have done in the NC game? Woulda.

Reminds me of 2005 when Closner went down and we ended up with Britt (?) at center for the LSU game? Now, there wasn't a damn thing about Closner that made him what I consider to be an SEC center. In fact, I thought he (and his coach) were a joke. But, many were quick to hypothesize if JB was playing against LSU (and Auburn) we'd have won those games.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Exactly. That's what I meant when I said "same could be said for any close game". Be it Alabama, Auburn, the championship, Oklahoma, Ohio State, etc.

Unfortunately, when it's my team on the receiving end of a close loss, I will always wonder about the coulda, woulda, shoulda and drive myself nuts :what:
