| FTBL Mississippi St. spring game offers no offense.

Spring games in football, like spring training in baseball, aren't the place to predict how a team will fare in its upcoming year. But hopes can't be too high at Missisippi State, where two weeks back the White and Maroon teams played through a scoreless regulation and needed — get this — overtime to decide a winner. Chris Relf hit Co-Eric Riley with a 25-yard TD pass for a 6-0 maroon victory. Afterward, Coach Sylvester Croom, who spent most of the game in a TV broadcast booth or the stands, tried to spin the ugly result into a positive. "I'm not judging anything based on today," Croom said. "It's not a true picture of where we are." Hopefully not, Sly. When we last left your Bulldogs, they were slogging to a 10-3 Liberty Bowl victory over UCF. More offense like that, and there will be no bowl in 2008.

From the Orlando Paper if you want to read more

Hell they dont need to score much to beat us. We havent scored a TD in three games against them if memory serves correctly

That's fantastic! Nothing screams mediocrity like a scoreless spring game. Unfortunately they beat both of us last year. Reading this just makes me sad for having to admit that

How in the world did they manage to beat both Alabama & Auburn last season?
They will get a beat down in 08.

A kid named Dixon.

I was thinking the same thing, Lenny.

Damn, I miss the days when an opponent's spring practice wasn't such a big thing. Geeze, you would think these spring games are tune-ups for next week's action the way everybody's going on about them.

Just yesterday I had a LSU friend email me a thread from Tiger Droppings detailing what a bad spring game Bama had. Talk about comical..

Man, it's spring practice for Todd's sake!

I also don't understand this greater-than-Thou attitude some Bama fans have been displaying right now. If memory serves me right, we got beat by the likes of ULM, among others last season. I may have missed something, but I don't believe Bama has progressed enough just yet for folks to be acting like that.

Besides, a #1 recruiting class in the nation doesn't guarantee a national championship. Just ask Texas, Florida State, and a few others. Bama is still gonna have to go out and earn whatever accolades the Bama Nation and media is bestowing on them right now. And until the Crimson Tide accomplishes these things on the field, some folks need to take a big dose of humility.

I just don't see how folks can keep knocking MSU after what has happened these past three years or can carry on like Bama is coming off an undefeated season. We're not that good yet.

Bama was beaten by themselves that day with that stupid call and an awful execution by JPW in the last seconds on the first half.

RTR,

Roger that. I don't care about other teams spring games and I don't care to comment on the teams who beat us last year.

We may be headed in the right direction but there is still alot to be embarrassed about as well.

I have no idea what you're talking about Factor. I can't recall anything bad happening last year. From where I sit the team looks perfect. I believe that we will go undefeated for the next five to ten seasons and eventually only pro teams will be brave enough to schedule a game with us.

Of course I'm wearing a pair of these:

So that could have something to do with it.....
