I thought he would be an interesting choice when Shula was fired. He openly wanted the job, and said he would keep Kines and give him total control of the defense.
There are rumors that he's got some personal baggage, beyond being a weird bird. Regardless, I think he would certainly field a potent offense in the SEC, but he puts no emphasis on defense. That combination of spread offense and no defense will not work in this conference. He might beat the SEC cellar dwellers every year in shootouts, but his teams would get drummed against a physical, ball control offense and a fast, physical defense.
