This guy curses a lot. He curses so much it loses it's effectiveness. And he repeats himself over and over and over to a point to where it becomes monotonous.

I would have been bored to death if this guy had coached me. PineBox will probably do much better than Leach did at Texas Tech.

Don't get me wrong, I see nothing wrong with cursing players to try to motivate them. Football players are tough guys in a tough sport doing tough things to tough people. But, Leach doesn't even use the foul language appropriately, he just rambles on.

I worked with a coach that was alot like that. He cussed everybody like that, even the other coaches.I would cuss at times in front of certain players as well. Every kid responds differently. After awhile, they tune you out if that's all you do is cuss like a sailor. Homer Smith was my position coach my freshman year at BAMA and he called me "lefty gomez". I asked him why because that wasn't my naem. He said when "you start doing my damn drill right, I'll learn your name!" I learned the drills.

I can care less about the cursing, hell I heard it in high school football all the time. It sometimes even fires you up, I'm talking about his mannerisms and the way he gets his messages across. Just overall an extremely weird dude when he opens up his mouth.

Saban doesn't have pirates and stuff in his office but I have heard him drop a few choice words at practice. Again it goes to the kid and his personality. Some can only be reached by those choice words while others fold like a tent.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I agree with all of you that cursing football players is okay. They are not wilting flowers.

I was just thinking that Leach's demonstrative language didn't have a punch because every 5th word was a slang word.

A coach like Saban can scream and yell and berate players and then drop a well timed F-bomb into the rant and players will snap to attention. But to F-bomb 3 times in every sentence dilutes the power of the word.

I've heard that speech almost verbatim... It was about 4 years ago, when the RTB.com badminton team went on a losing streak, and team captain Bama1966 got hella pissed at us. Good stuff.

I agree completely, UAgrad. What good does cursing do if kids pay more attention when you don't curse because all you do is curse? When you curse as much as Leach it just seems like you lack the vocabulary to do anything else.
