🏈 Mike Leach first shutout. Damn.

Do any of us fans know for certain that it was all Golding's fault for the somewhat poor defensive play in earlier games
or if he is the coach solely responsible for better defensive play as of late? Could one or more of the other coaches or
analyzers be helping out with input or on field teaching? Or in defensive play calling? Or maybe simplifying things just a tad?
These are just a few questions that come to my mind that I don't have any answers for.

Give him credit for sure. Lets see it sustained over a longer period. Same for any coach or team.

Agree with this. And I'm not going to pretend MSU is an offensive juggernaut, because they suck. But he deserves some credit, especially after the interwebs beatings he took after Ole Miss. Not a single person (me included), would have thought that 3 weeks after that game, Bama would hold MSU scoreless. But the last 10 quarters of football, Bama has looked much better on defense.

Would def agree to this... And ultimately if there's plenty of blame to go around, there should be plenty of credit. The entire D staff has done a nice job bouncing back from Ole Miss.

And I also agree with @mando - When you've got the most talent, you're going to get saddled with high expectations. And not regular season expectations. Living up to and surpassing is what has made Saban a legend! And many of the coordinators from those years are thought of in high regard as well because of it too... Golding - We shall see!

I find it ironic there's not a question about players execution of the responsibilities in your questions much like there's no mention of that when people are pointing fingers.

Since we're veering back to Ole Miss a bit here you've made a good point. Realistic is a word missing.

Ole Miss receiving corps > Tide secondary when it comes to talent. Experience is on their side, no doubt. They have a talent edge with Yeboah and Moore. Older, more talented players make plays. But no we're getting into a pet-peeve of mine. The inability of a lot of Bama fans to admit an opponent just made the play.

Pete Golding wears the blame for games like Ole Miss, he should get the credit for Saturday night too.

Actually, I meant to give the Devil his due already regarding the 2nd half performance against UGA and the subsequent shut out against MSU. I have always said if you see improvement you can be somewhat satisfied with that. I thought BAMA did show improvement when they opened against Mizzou but then the next two games had me scratching my head. It's good to see a trend in the right direction and apparently, Pete is decent on the recruiting trail as well. This just furthers my inclination that I should trust Saban and quit second-guessing his personnel decisions.

Eh, there's always grey area.

I don't think anyone was expecting a Kiffin Ole Miss offense to not make plays.... It was the fact that a Bama defense, filled with 4 & 5 star talents, did not make ANY plays. Like, 0.

I feel our safeties are making more plays, we are actually tackling, and the defensive line are batting balls down. I can't say for sure if the coaching has gotten better or if our guys are getting more comfortable throughout the year, but I don't feel like I'm seeing as many slipped tackles.
