We knew where this was headed. Kids only have a one to four year window to soak up payments to play college ball, it only makes sense they'll leverage it.
You can't start talking money with kids and then get shocked when they start using themselves as leverage for better deals. Kids aren't stupid and now they really have no loyalty, just looking to get paid now.
The kids have no loyalty is one opinion although this one falls back on the school, does it not? At least, the school's "collective."
They just brought in a kid from a 14-17 team and are paying him 400K for the year. Wong was an instrumental part of their run to the Elite 8. The loyalty isn't coming from Miami towards their current roster.
This is one of those stories you can point to and say, "it's not NIL, it's pay-for-play." They're just saying it out loud.
We're going to see this happen during the basketbll season before a team makes a post season run.
We're going to see this happen in all sports and specifically including meaningless playoff games in football.
And there you have it. It was just a matter of time, and it came quickly. Somehow, College sports no longer has the luster it once offered. I had this same feeling when Curt Flood started his push for free agency.
There is a distinct difference between NIL rights and pay-for-play advocacy and the latter is taking over in college sports

Just spoke with Miami booster @JohnHRuiz, who told me Isaiah Wong plans to return to Miami and stick with his current NIL deal. Ruiz said he told Wong that he'd help him find other NIL opportunities with different companies at Miami.
Didn't all of this start with the CA Governor passing a law and then other states followed? Maybe I my recollection is incorrect but that is what I was thinking of when I made that post. CA libs will screw anything up.
