South Carolina is paying for Spurrier's full salary this year and they don't have to. They could pay him ~$2m for services rendered this year, but instead they are paying him his full $4m, he was making in the low $3m range and received a $700k bump last year. They've gone stupid, I don't care what he did for South Carolina, he quit in the middle of the season, pay his ass accordingly. He said a few months ago in July that he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon and was going to be coaching for a long time.
I don't think South Carolina has the money to throw around like they think they do ($98m in revenue vs $95m in expenses).
Golden was making a bit over $2m at Miami, 7th in the ACC in terms of pay. Does Miami get serious about a HC and pay someone who has experience or are they going to settle for a 1st time HC.
