I see Mario as a prime target for UM. Kiffin and Smart will both be at or on the top of coaching searches.

Alabama could potentially lose a lot of coaches and players at the end of this year. Kirby and Lane are prime targets. There are other coaches that have been head coaches before, but now they have Saban training. I'm sure Henry will be gone along with most of the defensive front. It wouldn't surprise me if Reuben Foster jumps (although he would benefit like Ragland did from another year).

Cristobal is a natural fit for Miami. He's won at a college near the Miami area with significantly less reasons to be successful. Also, Miami doesn't pay it's head coaches like they are a big time program. I saw something this weekend saying USCe could probably offer up to $2M per year more than Miami. Salary alone is going to keep them out of the top tier market.

I wouldn't call 27-47 a winning record as a head coach (his record at FIU - his only HC experience). He has ties to Miami, but do they want someone who can turn things around or relate to the program?

He won a conference title and made two consecutive bowl games at FIU. He has the only two winning records at FIU history. Did he win 10 games every year? Of course not, but at FIU he's far and away their most successful coach.

They could pay him ~$2m for services rendered this year, but instead they are paying him his full $4m, he was making in the low $3m range and received a $700k bump last year. They've gone stupid, I don't care what he did for South Carolina, he quit in the middle of the season, pay his ass accordingly. He said a few months ago in July that he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon and was going to be coaching for a long time.

I don't think South Carolina has the money to throw around like they think they do ($98m in revenue vs $95m in expenses).

Golden was making a bit over $2m at Miami, 7th in the ACC in terms of pay. Does Miami get serious about a HC and pay someone who has experience or are they going to settle for a 1st time HC.

I think USCe understands that if they want to compete they have to pay in that 3-4M range for a coach. I'm not sure Miami is going to pay in that range. Plus they are still under the self imposed scholarship reductions. I don't see any big named coach jumping at the opportunity to play with less scholarships.

Was listening to sports radio over lunch today in Atlanta. The name that came up for the Miami job was Mark Richt. It was only speculation, but he played at Miami, coached at Miami, is from South Florida and has been successful. Interesting. He gets beat up a lot for his lack of championships, so could this be the time to go a put respect back on the plate at Miami?

Someone with Richt's "clean" reputation just doesn't seem to fit the Miami job. JMO. But, wouldn't that be something if that happened? WOW.

IMO, CKS does not take the job at Crimes R Us. The former U players from their heyday will want a Miami guy. All of the reasons mentioned above in previous threads are valid reasons why not to go to South Beach.
